Hi,

I've seen a lot of in depth responses here so I figured: why not ask. Most of you couldn't shoot me at that distance anyway.

I drive an Audi A6 for the moment and, as I usually drive it with caution, I noticed at some point that I could shift gears without using the clutch pedal.
You don't have to pull or stomp the shifter, but whitout pushing the clutch, you can slowly push it out of gear and when you put it towards the next gear it just pops in. I've bought the car new and it has 50k miles on it. I could however do this from early on.

I don't know if this is harmfull, nor do I fully understand how this goes.

Anyone here willing to explain, becaus it's an easy way to drive, but with my mustang comming I wouldn't want to harm it...

Thanks guys.

that's a technique truckers use to shift a non synchronized tranny (i drive trucks for living), aka float the gear or somebody call it clutchless shifting.

I'll rev match it out of gear into neutral without using the clutch, never forcing it. That be it for me with this car.

I shift like that sometimes. It goes back a long ways. No harm as long as your not grinding gears. I will say that the Mustang is harder to shift without the clutch because of the (notchy?) transmission.

I get what youre saying.

I use to do this in my old GTI and Evo, it was extremely easy to do. I feel like with the mustang it isn't as sloppy so it's harder to do.
