For the last couple months. I've been seeking a good 50 Years LE to buy and finally found what seems to be a good one. I really love this car!
I recently sold my 2011 GT which I had bought new. Great car, but I have been hankering for something newer. I decided to get an S550 and the car that sold me was the LE. I'm late to the party, I know. I wasn't even aware of the 50 Years model until I happened to see an As-New No-Mile WW one at the 2023 Barrett-Jackson auction. I had never seen an S550 that looked so good to me. It was the beginning of a car crush. After simmering for a year and a half and now being in a financial position to make an automotive change, I found that I could get quite a good quality LE in my budget. The 50 Years may not be the latest and greatest thing anymore in Mustang World, but it is to me!
After a false start buying #1573 (long story) from Tulsa and test driving #380 in San Antonio, #136 from Dallas is hopefully taking up long term residence in my garage. It is a manual with 16,300 miles. It is virtually blemish free and quite a beauty. Originally sold in Jackson, MS, I am the 5th owner according to Carfax. I might prefer a more monogamous past, but the car has obviously been well cared for. Tires are about a year old.
When I test drove the car, I forgot to look in the spare tire well. When the car was shipped to me a week later, I had a surprise when I looked in the well. It has a spare tire! On the downside, it did not come with any of the memorabilia.
It currently has a Borla S-Type catback exhaust. It's nice and throaty, but I plan to put it back to stock. There are no other mods that I know of. I'm not sure what I will mess with yet, besides I'm pretty sure I want to put a new shift knob on (a white one from the Bullitt).
This will be my semi-daily driver, probably getting about 6k miles a year based on how I used my 2011. It won't be babied, but it will always have a garage spot and I take pretty good care of my cars. I hope it will have a long, happy life here!
