Jack points

Before you say "search", I actually did and wanted to clarify.

Is there no standard jack points (typically under the rocker panels) on this car, you have to jack by the suspension arms?

Thanks, I looked into those. Are they compatible with GT350? any issues with using them?

I already have 600 miles and was planning to change the oil this weekend and may not be able to wait for that stuff to arrive. Where exactly can I jack the car up and place the jack stands?

Before anyone suggests the rear differential, there is no way I am doing that

I can't believe I am actually replying.......

There are small raised molded in arrows on the bottom of the rocker trim to indicate where to place the jack on the pinch weld.

There are several cut out areas of the rocker panel underneath to expose the pinch weld. I use a jacking insert on the pinch weld, and then place a jack stand at another cutout where the pinch weld is exposed.

So why use those rails?

Also, any specific jack stand you recommend?

The rails take the guess work out of it and you can use the jack at the center of the rail, lift the entire side of the car and place both jackstands at once.

Jackstands are pretty straight forward, I use the 6 ton variety form amazon because they have a nice wide base.

How do you change the oil in your M5?

M5's oil pan is very different (similar to other BMWs), the drain plug is angled at the bottom in a way that even when the car is not on a flat surface, you drain 99% of the oil. I have race ramps and thats what I have used for many years.

GT350 has a very different oil drain design. If the car is not flat, you are not going to get a significant amount of oil out.

Is this sufficient or am I still going to be frowned upon for asking this question?

Without jacking rails you will damage the underside of your car over time, it's inevitable.
Order the rails and wait until they arrive to change your oil. It's the right thing to do.

What do you mean? Aren't you jacking from the frame of the car in the underneath? Are you saying you will be damaging the frame? Is it just scratches/visual or do you think the area will eventually be bent etc?

Do the same rails work with this car as the ones that work with the base mustang?

You cant use raceramps with this car to change the oil. Have you seen the position of the oil drain plug and the shape of the pan? It wont drain fully.
