Issues controlling passenger window

Several weeks ago I started encountering an issue where when I try to lower the passenger side window from the driver side switch, nothing happens, as if the switch is locked. But if I reach over and use the switch on the passenger door, it lowers the window just fine. From that moment forward during that driving session, I can raise and lower the passenger window from the driver switch with no problem. So basically the driver side passenger switch does nothing until the passenger side switch is used first, as if the initial passenger side operation is needed in order to 'wake-up' the driver side switch. This doesnt happen every single time I drive the car, but it happens more often than not. Any suggestions?
