Is using a wiretap on rear view mirror OK?

My 17 Shelby had the wires / connection exposed on the mirror making access a no brainer. Are the 18+ GTs the same?

My 19 convertible wires are behind a cover that is easy to get to. The install was super easy. I just hope its making good enough contact to supply constant power.. I guess it is, the detector never reboots over bumps lol

Wiretaps are good to go. Have my Uniden R7 on a blendmouuntt hardwired from the rear view mirror. It's been great. So much better than the old days of cutting and splicing wires or using those old school pinch connectors.
