I went a bit wild and went wide open throttle today and got all caught up in the moment :D and wasn't watching the tachometer. What happens if I hit redline? Possible to go past it and blow up the engine?

There is a rev limiter. I believe its 7000 rpm hard cap but there are conditions where it will fuel cut at 6800.

Unless you've put a custom tune on it that removes the rev limiter, it's there at 6750 rpm.

Mine is about 6850 according to the digital tachometer. I have a manual, I don't know if it is different on an auto.

Sorry for noob question but any point of going over 6500 rpm if that's where peak hp is? Is it for when the car is modded?

If you want to keep accelerating there's a point, once you upshift you'll be down in a lower RPM and HP/torque band

Absolutely. There is nothing wrong working both sides of the horsepower peak curve.

One scenario would be if you are approaching a turn and you're approaching redline. In that case, it would be better to stay in that gear and redline instead of shifting up and taking drive out of the car.

Another would be if you are trying to gear the car for a track or new power level, you'll need to know where the redline is in order to calculate for the variables.

Coming from a car with a redline of 9150rpm, it's no surprise that i already bounced off the rev limiter in second gear at less than 300 miles.

Lol it comes quick with 3.73s.

Nah, there's a fuel cutoff, rev limiter, spark reduction, etc.

All kids of nannies.
