So here's the quick run down - purchased a pre-owned 2018 GT PP with 8k miles from a local dealer. The car had a few basic mods already installed from the previous owner (Long Tubes and a JET CAI - with tune). So here is my dilemma - car was parked in front of my house and a lady backed in to the passenger front bumper area. Took the car to the dealership for repair and since the car was already at the dealer there were a couple minor issues that needed to be addressed under warranty (TPMS not reading on all four tires, A/C fan speed not reducing to low speed (only stays on medium and high) temperature setting for the A/C will not regulate correctly, etc.) The dealership is stating they are not able to connect to car because of the tune and that the tune is most likely causing some of the issues...…..does this seem true? Seems far fetched with all the folks running tunes that a tune would cause these types of issues; also doesn't seem right for them not to be able to connect to the car and verify the issues because the car has a tune????

Also, I have no clue what tune has been installed and I have no clue what the previous owner did with the stock tune. Any suggestions if the original owner is available for comment?

Any insight you might have would be greatly appreciated!

Ford had communication issues when they replaced my BCM, couldn't get it to program. Asked repeatedly if it was tuned (it has a custom dyno tune) but the tuner confirmed that would in no way hinder communication with the PCM or BCM and ultimately the issue Ford was having was their own programming.

I would try a different dealership.

Thanks aleccolin! Were you able to resolve the issue by taking to another dealer?

As soon as they are able to repair the car I will be taking the car to another ford dealer for analysis.

My dealer figured it out, but it took their top tech and a lot of back and forth with Ford's engineers in Dearborn (like 6 pages of emails) and finally they had to do some sort of live datalog situation while driving the car for them to realize there was a bug in the code.

I was really impressed with the tech that worked on my car, he walked me through everything that was done in detail. I doubt many dealerships have someone quite so conscientious in their shop.

I'd mention to them that they sold you the car with the tune on it and if they can't find out what wrong then they can take the car back and refund you the money you paid.

Well that is definitely a plus for you! But does not so much work in my favor :) but it is all good, I am sure we will get it figured out

LOL, this is very true and I just might have to utilize this card but hopefully a quick call to the GM might solve my issue :)

There are tuners who keep the fans on all the time with no reduction in speed while the car is running.

THIS, I had a similar issue with a truck I purchased from the dealership years ago, kept getting stonewalled by the dealership, called my finance company, they advised me to take it to the dealer, park it right out in front and tell them to keep it or fix it.....lol, everything was fixed that I complained about and they aligned it, put 2 new tires, on and washed and waxed it.

I see you are in Virginia. Which dealership did you take your car to? It seems they care about their customers
