Is chrome dead?

Stop twisting what I said into what you want to hear.

Yeah, new cars look so terrible with chrome.

Just like the all black steel wheel murdered style, too much of anything is bad. The window surrounds, grill, taillight trim etc of the LE is perfect. A set of nice chrome deep dish would look ok. Much more wouldn't. All black is same way. Too much makes car look gone, not evil. Makes it look like painted steel wheels and unfinished.

Just like life, everything in moderation.

I'm not quite sure how I twisted your words? It sure sounded to me that anyone that has a newer model car and modifies it without chrome isn't a "true craftsman". Real car guys at real car shows you're gonna see lots of chrome...

Sorry, but it's MY opinion that chrome looks tacky. Just like you think only "real" car people have chrome on their rides. The cars you pictured look awesome, but I'd still get rid of that stupid chrome trim around the windows.

I don't mind the odd chrome badge or window trim but chrome wheels are no.....just NO.

It looks horrible indeed. I didnt say anything cause i thought maaaaaybe someone was gonna go ooooooh aaaaaaah that looks amazing. Thise are foose wheels btw

chrome wheels are hard to pull off these days....now a brushed face and black like the factory 20's are awesome in my opinion... the chrome and brushed accents inside are just right to me as well...if I ever go with blacking out the decals on the outside, plastdip doesn't look cheap, it is cheap IMO....Now if I can get the decals done in black chrome or anodized then for sure id do that...

I'm pretty sure those are all polished aluminum CCW wheels, NOT chrome.

That last pic definitely is a set of CCWs. Chrome and bright polished like that looks good on older cars. Period correct mods look best on the cars they were designed for. You wouldn't put BBS wiremesh on a new Porsch etc. I'm not opposed to chrome wheels in theory but I dont think it looks good on the S550 IMO. It's more suited to older muscle. Brushed, gunmetal etc. look great on this car. I think the only instance where a chrome or chrome like finish looks good is something like the factory 18" split 5 spoke, that has bright spokes with darker rim accents, but that's it.

Depends on what side you're from... Over here on my side it's Black is the new Chrome. Once you pass over Central Ave you can get a steal on any wheels that aren't Chrome!
