So the wife needs a new car and she casually mentioned a Mustang... if that's not a green light to get one I don't know what is. We built it online and took it to the local dealer. After I beat them down on the price I walked out without putting any money down and they came after me saying they would special order the car (no deposit) and when it came in we have the first option on it. Fair enough.

They were also nice enough to loan us a different 2019 for a night and we "put it through it's paces" and handed it back.

But like most people I'm a little disappointed with the grill and really love the fog light look of the earlier cars. So with the magic of Photoshop I mocked up quickly what I think would be a cool grill with fog lights. I don't think it would be tough to find the earlier grills and hack it together. But I really hope the aftermarket takes a look at something like this. So far I've been disappointed with the aftermarket solutions.

Yes, that is the car we built (without the fog lights). Didn't want to go crazy with the options but like the classic touches like the wheels and stripe. No PP or the like. Just the 401A.

Thoughts?

I agree with needing an aftermarket grill, but I'm not digging the lights in it. 401a is a great package

I suspect the aftermarket isn't touching retro fog light grills due to regulatory constraints on candle power. I think they can get away with those mega-bright LED light bars on trucks as "off-road auxiliary lighting only", but more lighting beyond the LED headlights and fog lights already on the 18/19 Mustang may be too much of a stretch - Mustangs don't go "off road", and not sure how much lighting is allowed when you want to enter your Mustang in a 24-hour endurance race. So, you might be stuck with a DIY project if you want that retro look...Here's a quick and easy DIY project that will make you the talk of the town every time you go to the front of your new car to "tap on" your retro aux lighting -:giggle::

I get it that some people don't want the retro look.

In my opinion the S550 is based on the Mach 1. So the fog lights are as natural as the pony on the front.

Personally, I like the looks of your dream grill. Not sure that I would pop for the price asked for it were it to go into after market production.

I think the RTR grill for the full boat (upper and lower grills plus lights) is $750? I'd drop $500 for the upper with lights.

What I was thinking is take one of the earlier grills that someone has removed because they didn't like the lights (quite apparent from the first two posters that they exist) and cut the lights out. Maybe a water jet? And then cut similar holes in the '19 grill and some brackets to hold the lights. I'd need to look at the old grill and see how it's set up.

Talked to dealer today. Car won't get built until December (claimed production delays due to some interior part on backorder). So I'm guessing January delivery? At least we don't have the expectation of any time soon. And the wife will stop asking me every day...

With a little more searching I can see I’m not the only person interested. These might be the closest to being manufactured although I don’t think they’ll fit the 19.

I do wish there was a good grill option with foglights for the 2018s
