Another thing I noticed on my second drive is that running very low RPM (under 1500) is kind of an ugly, lugging sound. Now, any of you with a stick shift would rightly point out that's never your situation, but the A6 in Drive seeks 6th gear with a vengence, and cruising 40-50 mph is pretty low rpm stuff.

I think the solution is simple enough. S mode blocks 6th gear, and the 1700-1800 I see in 5th gear under those conditions is less annoying. I laugh at myself, because in an old T5 Fox with 2.73s I would be driving in 3rd gear under those circumstances, at 2700 rpm or so. What's a "lug", right?

So I think a lot more S mode operation, and windows down at every opportunity. Reminds me of 25 years ago, for sure.

Happy to hear your enjoying it  , love mine! I have been keeping it right around 1700-1900 rpm (M6) for early morning condo driving to stay out of that deeper rumble below 1500, so maybe try paddle shifting to stay in that rpm range more often if it isn't too much of a bother.
