If you have had clear wrapping, whether it be a partial or full wrap, I would appreciate your input. Any advice is welcomed.

I'm just going to have my dealer put on xzilon. It's only like 300 and supposedly has a 5 year warranty

Please explain xzilon as I am looking into doing the clear bra myself. However if ford dealers order something such like this then I won't mind having them do it when the car comes in so I can take it from the dealer already clear bra'd

Had clear bra on my 350z since right after I bought it in 2007. It was only slightly damaged on the bumper, but you can see where it protected the paint from some pretty bad chips. I had a good experience

I paid $1200 bucks to do my Lexus - I would never do it again.

I did the front bumper, 18 inches of the hood, headlights, mirrors.

The reason I won't get it again is very quickly it looked bad - when it gets hit it leaves this opaque chip in the bra and the bra becomes very visible. Over time it just looked horrible.

Remove and reapply but not at $1200. That's horribly high!

I did mine myself. Bought the kit from eBay and took my time

I have this exact problem, but it's probably better than having a stone chip and having to fill it in. Also, I tried to remove a stain or something off the clear bra - ended up lightly scratching that area so that it was no longer near-invisible against the paint.

Meh, if I had to do it again, I'd probably would still get it despite those disadvantages. A little cosmetic damage on a replaceable plastic sheet is probably better than having to fill in numerous paint chips.

I plan to get OptiCoat 2.0 put on my car (obviously not done myself). Will probably cost $500-$600 or so. Not just the front bumper though, all over the car.

I tend to attract the jerks that like to hit my car with their car doors in parking lots when I'm not around. So I figure another layer of protection over the paint would be a good thing.

Clear bra ftw. You can also buy big industrail sheets/rolls of the 3m stuff from ebay and cover more parts of the car. I would suggest getting a pro to install the front end bra, then do some of the straight, flat surfaces yourself (ex. sides of doors, above windshield, etc.)

why get a wrap and hide the paint you are paying for?

The Opti-Coat idea intrigued me so I did some looking online. Seems like the general consensus is that is adds some extra durability at the expense of the deep gloss you get from a wax. Because of this I think I'll just stick to a clear bra plus wax 3-4 times a year. I just can't get over how amazing Zaino products make my car look.

I used opticoat on my '12 Kona Blue and it looked amazing and shed water like crazy. You can also wax on top of the opticoat to get the waxed look. The opticoat lasts for around a year by itself and even longer if you wax on top of it but the waxing is not required.

I only did the vehicle last time but when my '15 gets here I will be doing my wheels as well and have complete coverage. I plan on having my detailer(yes i'm lazy) use pinnacle souveran this time as well and just having him wax it every 6 weeks or so.

I've seen/read the OptiCoat leaves the car super shiny. I don't see why you can't wax over it. The opti coat isn't something that fades away. It's basically a second clear coat. But now I'm curious

:headbang: I highly recommend it.

Besides the bit of extra protection it does a really good job of helping your car stay cleaner over time as well. It is especially noticeable in areas with a lot of dust or pollen because it doesn't stick as well to your car. According to my detailer if you coat your wheels it also does a really good job of keeping brake dust off of them.

Overall I was using it for about 4 months before it was totaled and I didn't notice any change in it's ability to shed water or to resist dust so I was very happy with it.
