Yeah. I went by a good body shop close to the house to have it looked at. We're pretty sure it's just cosmetic. The lady was backing up, so she couldn't have been going very fast.
Sorry to hear this Beau! Let me know which body shop you decide to get the work done. Hope it gets fixed the right way. G'Luck!

Thanks, Mustafa. Geico called and I'm trying to get the process started now.

Ouch ... that's sickening. Hope the body shop makes it right again! New quarter panel, or they gonna pull it back out?
Don't let them pull any of that pulling it back out crap! New quarter panel all the way. Raise enough hell and they'll do it right.

Geico already called and I have an appointment in the morning for them to estimate the damage.

Now I just need a really good body shop to make sure the repairs are done correctly.

Oh man! That's too bad, Ralph! It looks drivable — or is there suspension damage precluding driving it until the shop takes it in?
Also, which body shop will you be using?

I took it by a local Service King body shop on the way home. They looked at it and said a new rear quarter panel, and possibly a new rear bumper, are in order. So no pulling it out.

I'm concerned about the rear quarter panel b/c they're going to have to cut the old one out at some spot and weld the new one in place. I suppose a good body man can do it where you'll never even know it's been done.

Seems to be just cosmetic damage to the rear quarter panel and bumper. The lady was backing out, so she couldn't have been going very fast.

Trying to find a good body shop.

She was driving a Toyota Camry.

Yeah. It likely will show up on CarFax. But what are you gonna do? She's not a garage queen but my DD. So I have to run the risk, as we all do, of encountering other driver's stupidity.

Geico estimated the damage this morning. It's coming in a little bit north of $1,500. This includes replacing the rear quarter panel and the rear bumper with Ford OEM replacements.

And I've found what I believe is a very high end body shop to do the repairs. The shop is certified for Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar, etc. Hopefully, they'll get the ruby red matched and blended right.

Problem is, they can't start on the car until August 26th. So I have to drive around with a banged up Stang for a month. Oh well. As long as the repairs and paint are done right, I don't mind waiting.
