It's good to be back after about 8 months TDY and the usual adjustments are working themselves out at work and home. One thing that was exactly how I left it was my car. Pulled the car cover off and disconnected the battery tender. Was a nice rainy WA day but didn't care. Started right up with the gas tank full and didn't miss a beat. I did get an "oil change required" message and it keeps showing up on start up but I was planning on changing the oil in the next week or so anyway. Other that that message, everything is perfect. Tires didn't have any flat spot feel or anything. Took it easy for a bit but had to cross the Mexican border and was over joyed. After being mostly a passenger for 8 months it feels great to be behind the wheel again. And this car is just so great!! The sound, the feel, even the new car smell is still there! Put a tank of gas through it over Saturday and Sunday and zero issues. 2k rattle is still there but I welcome it. BBQ tick seems to be gone but not really listening for it. I have missed the sweet melody of going through the RPM range so much. Thoughts of mods are once again put on the very back burner simply because this thing doesn't need them at all. So happy to be home!!

Just wanted to get that out lol.

Also, does the "oil change required" message mean I need to go into a setting and say I did the oil change? If so, where is that?

In your settings (button that has a picture of a gear) there will be a 'reset oil life' or similar setting. I usually reset to 80% but change oil every 5K anyways.

And, welcome back.

And thank you lol.

No place like home. Welcome back and hope all is well for you.
Thank you. So far so good. I'm Order and the wife is Chaos so there are adjustments before balance is restored but we are exceedingly good about not killing each other over the little things.

Welcome back

The oil life counter counts down even when the car is not in use, it’s not entirely based on just actual mileage use.

Same is true with the air pump kit in trunk; if you still have it, it too will have a “life expectancy” counter that can be reset in same menu options.

Awesome! Thank you. I'll have to check out the air pump now too lol.

It did get cut short. I was supposed to be gone a full year and maybe more because pandemic and all. My back exploded and got a light duty note and manager on ground sent me home. With how things were going, I'm glad to be outa there and of course happy to be home. I think I'm 2 appointments away from talking treatment options for my back. L5 and S1 now have no disk between them and they said it looks like arthritis starting to form right there too. Co worker welcomed me to the "old man club". I guess I too will have the super power to be able to know when the rain is coming. Friday will be the 4th doctor to see me about this because of being sent home and decide if they schedule me a MRI. Surgery has been discussed a few times now too. Still going to work but mostly thanks to drugs I think. What a great year it's been!! #sarcasm

Sorry to hear about the bad back. My mom had one as did my mother in law. Just FYI, my wife worked for orthopods (Orthopedic surgeons). Surgery should be a very last resort as many of them fail over time. Hopefully you can get away with it. By the way have you tried a chiropractor? The right one can work minor miracles. My wife and younger daughter both go to one.

You can also try an advanced versions called A.C.T. (Active Release Technique) and F.A.S.T. (Facilitated Active Stretch Technique). My older daughter worked for the man who developed it in NJ. He was also the chiropractor for the NY Giant's football team. I remember meeting Tiki Barber once at his office. He swears by him.

You can read about him here.

First place I went to was a local Chiropractor near my hotel. Truly believe in them and what they do. Got adjusted and made zero difference. I've been through physical therapy a few times too and have been using what I've learned there to cope while it all get sorted out. After seeing the X-Rays, I'm pretty sure what was left of my disk ruptured. When it happened there was a starburst of pain and my vison went white. The next day I was laughing because I couldn't stand for a while due to flashes of pain when I tried. I'm actually terrified of surgery and injections so my plan A is get it fixed with other available methods if any. I work around guys who have gone all the routes and know the injection and surgery routes are terrible at best. Really, just waiting for more diagnosis in the next week or 2 before going forward one way or another. I have degenerative disk disease so I knew it was gonna get here eventually. Unfortunately science hasn't provided us robot bodies yet. I've wanted one since I saw Robocop lol.

Thanks for the links!
