All in all, I was expecting much worse. The signing on the hood and having lunch on the trunk was asinine.

They are certainly not professional reviewers. I didn't think it was that bad. Just 3 guys in their mid twenties having some fun with a cool car.

There is no excuse to remove the stability or traction control on the street. Double so on a borrowed car.

What there's no excuse for is trying to drive too close to the upper limits of your skill set and your familiarity with the car in question on the street. That's a fail right there, all by itself.

Whether or not there's any nanny present, on, and ready to rein you back in doesn't matter when you're driving that close to the edge - and you don't know where it is, exactly, either. The presence of a nanny is irrelevant to matters of attitude and intent.

Whoever was at the wheel failed the judgment side of driving regardless of the state of that car's stability control. Failed it just short of big time. And that's a far more serious error than turning off AdvanceTrak no matter what your feelings on stability control systems might be.

I agree with the borrowed car part. It's okay to drive without TC if you know the car. I take TC off on the streets all the time. Sometimes it's too intrusive and I wanna make the tail end move around a little. What did everyone do with high horsepower cars before TC was around? Hell, I turn AdvanceTrac off too sometimes.
