First, I would like to apologize for not having a clue how to properly link to a video, and I am not sure if I am allowed to link to this particular site. Anyways, I'm not sure exactly how our paddle shifters work, but the paddle shifters that hurst made for the gen5 camaro look very cool, sturdy, and functional. The biggest reason I don't like any of the current offerings, as far as paddle shifters, for our cars is the fact that they are taped on and don't really seem all that sturdy. Does anyone else think that these look cool, would it be possible for our platform? Here is the link, if a mod or someone could help clean this up it would be appreciated. http://www.jegs.com/i/Hurst/530/538...192606854471&gclid=CJqcz5ugxswCFQiUaQodNxcFZg

Hey - those are exactly what I have been looking for as well...

I sure hope Hurts does something for the Mustang. The current ones are just ok - I can see that they aren't a perm solution though.

Lets hope for something like this...

Exactly, I think that the size of the paddles in the video would be perfect for sporty driving through curvy roads. It would be cool if an engineer from this forum could make something like this happen.

I know that the current ones offered by CJPP only stick on but they are not going anywhere. I have had mine for a few months now and don't ever feel like they may just fall off at any time. Now it would definitely be nice to see some other options that's for sure.

It doesn't matter. I drilled and tapped mine to attach with screws to the existing paddles instead of using tape. They are on permanently but that's not where the weakness of the paddle system is.
The paddles themselves are held onto the steering wheel with 1 single tiny screw. Anyone who has swapped in a GT350 wheel and changed over the paddles can confirm this. With a longer paddle like the ones from CJPP the switch begins to 'rotate' on its axis instead of shifting. The top 1 inch or so of the paddle is useless. There is another thread discussing this.
The only way to improve the system is to replace the entire paddle switch with something metal instead of plastic and to secure it to the wheel with more than 1 screw.

Based on the looks internally, would using a stronger material and more points of connection really fix the give of the stock paddles? I guess the flimsiness would make a set up like the one hurst made for the camaro impossible, as they could shift with the very tip of the extended paddles.

Unfortunately for us the Ford shift paddles are really just a button with paddles over them to trigger the shift. It's not like a micro-switch like is in more exotic cars. What someone needs to do is make the entire switch housing out of aluminum or some metal so there's no flex and mount it in a way so that the unit doesn't flex or rotate when an extended paddle is pulled.
Might be a few years before we see anything better.

Yeah I have the CJPP ones as shown below - they do rotate, the upper 1 inch was worthless so I modified mine as seen below - they still aren't a long lasting solution. Maybe I need to dig out my stock wheel and see about machining a bar system like that.

I know a couple of folks on here have given hope they were building something but its all been vaporware...

Hrrmmmm ideas...

I think that a bar system like in the video, would work. If someone could even come up with a prototype, I'm sure numerous members would line up to purchase.
