Look. Explain to me where your getting the 1.5" of clearance?
Their is none! You only have 5/8-3/4" of oil pan to k member clearance. This is NOT like the 5.0.
It is impossible to pull the oil pump off the crank snout without dropping the oil pan because the pick up tube is apart of the pan itself.
Don't try telling me you can do this without dropping the oil pan.
I can see it’s pointless to try and explain this to you, since you clearly know everything. But since I’ve already done it WITHOUT lifting the engine or dropping the K member, I don’t really have to.

For everyone else who is considering this, just know that once you remove the oil pan bolts, the pan will drop 1-1.5” to rest on the K Member. This drop is more than sufficient for the pick up tube to slide out of the bottom of the pump, so you can remove it.

Once the new one is installed, you’ll need a 4-5” angled scraper to remove the silicone from the two rear spots on the pan. Re-silicone and put the pan back into place. Getting those back two spots is annoying but not nearly as much as lifting the engine or removing the K member would be.

Presto. Don’t believe the hype!

I have done this myself also.
You CAN NOT drop the pan 1-1.5"
First of all, there is not the room to do so. The pan to k member clearance is less then 3/4".
Second, you can not raise the rear of the pan for obvious reasons, the block is there.
Third, you can not drop the front of the pan for obvious reasons, it's mated to the oil pump inlet and the clearance between the pan is too close as I already mentioned.

Post pics or it's never happened!
Show me that "YOU" pulled the pump out without lifting the engine enough or dropping the k member.

Lol, whatever, bro. Don’t get angry with me because you didn’t try it the easy way before going the difficult route. However, don’t get it twisted, the pan won’t actually come off the car. It drops enough to pull the pump, and clean the silicone. That’s it. Unfortunately when I’m working on vehicles I’m about business, not snapping pics like a tourist.

If anyone wants to do this without wasting a bunch of time lifting their engine up, hit me up directly and I’ll explain in detail. But if you remove the timing cover and then remove the oil pan bolts, you’ll see what I mean. Or you can listen to this other guy who clearly never even tried to get it off without lifting the engine. Choice is yours.

I swear...some people’s kids...

I'm not angry sonny.

Well I guess this is where you and I are clearly different. I do this for a living and never cut corners. I do it once and do it right. I also never reuse gaskets. Clear sign of a hack and cheap ass when you reuse gaskets / o-rings.
When I work on my own or customers vehicles I don't rush anything. Another plus for me to remove the k member is that I powder coated it and all my suspension parts.

Well if I’m not mistaken, the question was “can you swap the OPG without lifting the engine or dropping the K member?” The answer is yes. Regardless of your shit attitude and childish insults, it’s easily possible. Since you do this for a living and I’m just a dumb network engineer, I guess you should have already known this. My clearly inferior mechanical ability told me that a gasket with 3600 mi on it, didn’t need to be replaced. I guess I just got lucky that it hasn’t leaked a drop.

So I’ll go back to the original statement: If you want to do this, lifting the engine or dropping the K member is not required. What is required is patience and attention to detail. Or you can rip it all apart like a greasy gorilla and do it that way. Makes no nevermind to me.

Those are people in general. Not towards you. Sorry if you took it that way.

I like to disassemble things.
A little testy but hey, that's life. Gentlemen, I enjoyed the back and forth.

Do the better option.
Go with a dry sump oil system. That's what I plan to do soon.
It'll give the ultimate oiling.
Provide more clearance between the engine and K member and also engine to hood so I can lower the engine for a different intake (Cobra Jet, hogan etc)
Lower the engine for better handling.

Has anyone else done this yet?

When we raised my coyote during the header install, we had removed motor mounts and unplugged some stuff on the intake...what am i missing there that makes that more of a job?

I have access to a 4 post and a sliding tranny jack
