How should Ford celebrate the 50th ANNIVERSARY

Being fans of Ford's history and heritage.... we all know the 50th is going to be as big as they get until another 50 years.

I wanted to see what everyone would like to see as far as 50th events/celebration/ideas that Ford could do to mark this event. Doesn't have to be on the exact date, maybe just PR and marketing events leading up to the day.

My first thought is... ambitious. But would be cool to see. Create a very limited edition (50 units) 2014.5 that is a hybrid of both S197 and S550 body work on the S550 chassis (looking forward, not backwards). This keeps in line with Ford's history of anniv editions based on calendar year and gives people a nice teaser of the 2015 without a concept being shown. Remember, the 2009.5 Iacocca 45th Anniv Edition....45 made... except this one is looking forward, not backwards.

Also, first 50 buyers of the 2015 gets a special 50 years package thrown in (to be sold as an add-on for all others), and the first one sold off the line gets the car taken with the P51 and signed by Iacocca.

I'm sure some of you have some great ideas. Let Ford know what you'd lke to see!

I like that first 50 cars idea. The first 50 s550's to roll off the line get a special plaque or badge.

Another idea - auction the 50th one off the line at Barrett Jackson for charity.

I would like to see them change up the reveal/production timeline just for this one. If it reveals on the Mustang's birthday, have units ready to be bought on the very first day just like the original, even if it's just a limited quantity (50?). Imagine the buzz this will create to see these on the road right after the show.

I would like to see Ford publish a high quality coffee table book that shows us the development process, from concept to design and engineering, behind the 50th anniversary/2015 Mustang. Leave out the secret labs of course ;)

An anniversary edition, but greater than 50 units. Either as a 14.5 or 15. Since it's now obvious the 50th is going to be a huge deal, a 14.5 will keep the tradition.

I'm sure an anniversary edition would be greater than 50 being sold. There should be an optional anniversary package for the 2015 just like 5 years ago.

I would like to see an international launch just like the original. Hold press confs in a few select European capitals at the same time as the NY launch. This would create some huge buzz around the world.

Well i have several ideas.

I think the next race after April 14 that The Mustangs driven by John, Courtney Force, and Robert Hight need special 50th anniversary paint schemes. Also get some of the Nascar Nationwide series Mustangs involved. Have the 50th anniversary logo prominent on them and maybe a picture of the new 2015 car incorporated in the scheme. Might even be cool if they had each driver do a different color car representing each of the colors the car would be available in for 2015.

I also think they need to give us buyers some unique swag. Would be awesome if they gave you a nice sized 1/18 nicely detailed diecast that looks like the car you bought.
Same paint same wheels same interior color.

How about an exclusive t shirt or jacket or something.

Definetly need to design a special key and or keychain.

^^ thumbs up about the 1/18 diecast. I like that idea. I want some swag for the 50th too. They have some on the merchandise website but would be cool to get something exclusive for actual buyers. I'm thinking something I could use on the car itself.

A 50th anniversary cover?

Sun shade? Floor mats? All things I would get anyway and could be exclusive and save me a few hundred bucks.

I have one of the tshirts from the website which I hope they start offering some more variety.
Soon.

I think Ford should also televise the unveiling on live network tv. Maybe even go and do it on all the major cbs, nbc, fox, etc

How about give away a GT to a previous Mustang owner the day of the unveil

Sure anything but an unveil on a morning talk show *coughcamarocough*

Live tv sounds good although it would be during the NY auto show I would presume. That could be tricky. Those shows are a bit disorganized and chaotic for live TV...

I was thinking more like Ford buying an hour of tv time to coincide with the unveil. Have the first part talk about the history of the Mustang then cut to the reveal of the car and then if there is any time left have someone talk about percormance and features of the new car with some in depth video showing the interior and exterior design
