You need to investigate the Active Hood/Bonnet Hinges. Can someone organize a group buy for US "hoods" please? Surely if we get a pallet's worth the freight would be reasonable. Thanks.
Our cars have the Active Hood/Bonnet Hinges.
If there is a impact on the Hood/Bonnet area, an Explosive Charge in the Hood/Bonnet Hinges activates and forces/blows the rear of the Hood/Bonnet up 100mm.
This gives additional clearance between the motor and the Hood/Bonnet.
It is to protect pedestrians if they happen to end up on your Hood/Bonnet.
Read your owners manual and there is a section on it and precautions to take re the Explosive Charges associated with the Hood/Bonnet Hinges.
This is an Euro Standard.
Ford kindly incorporated it in our Aussie cars at no extra cost.
