That's what I have always noticed with my 2014 GT 5.0 Mustang, and my 2015 GT 5.0 Mustang, I have never seen the noticeable difference in useing 87 octane or 93 octane in the tank, my two cents worth on the the too fuels....
Totally agree!!

Only 2.00-3.00 more per tank TOTAL to run 93. I have never understood why someone would run 87 in a performance vehicle.

Premium here, at least at good gas stations is about 50 cents higher than regular...that equates to about $8 a fill up or easily $30-40 a month. On a road trip I'll save $25-50 depending on how much i actually drive or how hard lol.

That said I typically use 93 when i'm not traveling but I'm highly considering using 87 on the regular due to the ridiculous difference in 93-87 pricing increases in the past couple years. Used to only be .20 more for 93, the difference has been increasing .05 every 3-6 months smdh

back when i was living in HI there was a station near my house that sold Ethanol free gas. It was 89 octane but it was ethanol free. I filled up my first few tanks on my EcoBoost with that gas. Theres actually quite a few stations in Honolulu with Ethanol free gas. Theres even one with 100 octane race fuel but i think it closed down.

Up here in California i haven't found any stations with Ethanol free fuel yet. Found a few with E85 but not Ethanol free. Damn E85 is so cheap.

I know that I am late to the game. I have a '16 gt convertible with performance package. I put regular 87 in my car. From what I understand I lose a few horsepower by doing this and only average 17 mpg between city and hwy driving. I have gotten as high as 23 mpg on all hwy driving.

Thought about adding an octane booster with every fill up of regular gas.

An extra few dollars per fill up, put it in the tank before filling with gas so it mixes in as you fuel. Certainly cheaper than mixing high octane gas. Especially with the price difference between regular and premium being about $.70 per gallon, on a 14 gallon fill up, thats about $9.80 per tank and more than pays for the bottle of additive.

I would think that Lucas oil would be a name we can trust, as they have a Stadium ;)

You would be lucky to raise your octane rating by 0.5 with one of those tiny bottles. A gallon of toulene per tank might be more like it.

You won't be able to magically raise your octane for cheaper than pump gas at the higher rating.

It was just a thought. I try to only go to Exon/Mobile and BP/Chevron for gas as they have their cleansers in all their grades of gas, unlike Shell who only puts them in their premium grade.

While I may not have the higher octane, I should, in theory, run better with engine being cleaner.
