I dont know our intake manifold intimately yet because I havent had it off yet.

But I do know engines. If that part fell in the manifold, it could very easily be resting in there somewhere to quite possibly never at all be ingested. If it doesnt fit all the way down a port, its unlikely to get sucked all the way in unless it blocks off enough to create enough vacuum that sucks it in.

Doesnt this intake manifold have butterflies or something in there? It could jam up that stuff.

I will have my intake manifold off this weekend, so if you are still going nuts, I will have pics posted this weekend.

Overall its a big *IF* thing. If you knew for sure it was in there, I am sure you would go get it out.

^BTW by me suggesting it may never be ingested, I am not at all suggesting that its a wise idea to leave it in there or that it might not effect performance.

I will use a scope this evening. If I cannot find the missing piece, the manifold is coming off. I appreciate the help. I was once told that I "readily resolved crises of my own creation."

So, I did the scope and could not find anything in the intake. I spoke with a couple of mechanics that I have known for a long time. They think that if the grommet was pulled into the engine I would know by now. I now have put about 200 miles on it and have had no codes or symptoms.

I picked up a new grommet and installed it. It is much tighter than the original.

I am going to assume it fell out during one of my removals until something crops up. I will remove the intake manifold when I have more time and confidence in the procedure.
