I know this has been beaten to death..but I still can’t get an answer. 2019 GT PP. Running 6GR 20’s on 275/35 up front, and 305/35 in back. Cooper RS3-G1 all seasons. I know recommended pressure for factory 20’s is 35 psi. Can I stick with 35 psi for my setup, or do I need to lower my pressures back to what’s on the door jamb(32) or lower. Thanks

Factory recommended tire pressures are just that recommended. Different tire manufacturers and even tire types have different widths, compounds and sidewall stiffness. Add into the mix the type of driving you do (which will also effect ideal tire pressures) and how you want the tires to respond, 32-35 will get you into the ballpark.

I would add, if the OP plays with the 32 - 35 range. He will find one that feels right.

Tires have 3 rides, squishy, low pressure, side wall flex. Hard, hight pressure stiff side wall, least rolling resistance, less traction.

Sweet spot, car feels planted, nimble, could even come down to 1/2 pound differences, example 33.5.

What's most is important with regards to a tire and ride. Generally speaking, all 4 corners the same, and checked. Kind of a fun game, pay off is extended tire life, and ride quality.

When I had 20 with 35 profile tires I found that 32 psi was the best for getting around town that had some what crappy roads. When I would travel out of state I would put 35 psi

You need lower pressure out back with 315s to keep the wear pattern matched to the front. Last car I had w staggered wheels had 275/45 up front and 315/35 in back. Ran 32 psi front and 27 rear. Seemed to keep the wear even. You can do a similar calculation for your setup based on ratio of tread contact widths. Depending on what you have up front, more than 32 tends to wear the thread center before the edges from overinflation on a DD.

I'm down to 30 psi, from the recommended 33, on my rear 305's. Trying to get more traction. When they are at 33, and warm up to 35-36, they lose some grip.

I adjusted my pressure last night and mine were at 31 this morning instead of the 35 cold pressure that I have been running. It was slightly below freezing and they held at 31/32 lbs. tires felt more planted and noticeably less “hard”. I think I’ll adjust mine for 32 lbs cold. I really appreciate all of the responses from everyone

Pp1 18 here and I played around a little with tire pressures this week on staggered setup. 34 front and 31 back cold seems to be a sweet spot. Big difference from the 28-29 psi they were at when I checked them. Cannot believe the amount of tread left on these ps4’s after 12k miles.

You'll be good with running 32-35 psi.
