Hey. Total newbie to this stuff, so excuse my ignorance.

I have a GT premium with 18" wheels. Looking to go bigger, still deciding. But, noticed that many folks are lowering their cars. So, I'm thinking about it.

-What's typical or a good drop? 1"?

-Any negatives to lowering it?

-Brand suggestions?

-Is it difficult to do? I'm not installing myself. But, wondering if a typical mechanic can do it? Trying to get an idea of labor costs.

-Is it just springs that need to be bought, or a kit?

Thanks, in advance!

I have Steeda Sports and I love them. Not difficult at all to do (could easily do it by yourself) and give the car a great stance.

I would go with Steeda and a good alignment after just to be sure all is perfect. Optional items you could purchase "not required" but recommended...is the Steeda bumpsteer kit and the Steeda S550 Mustang IRS Subframe Bushing Support System. Hope this helps...

Thanks. I may skip those for now.

The two links in my post - which springs? One set is about $30 more.

So, about $300 for springs and $300 for labor (guess)? About $600 to lower car?

I have the Steeda springs (your first link) and and swaybars and they are great. If you think you may want the swaybars eventually, buy them now too and do the install at the same time to save time.

Steeda discount codes?

Are there any current Steeda codes? Will their website be the cheapest, or look elsewhere?

I might be looking at a bunch of Steeda items, Springs, sway bars and maybe some of the other items and also wondering if there are any codes out there. I would have loved to pull the trigger when they first came out and we're only like $200 but had other priorities at the time.

Do wheels have to removed in order to replace the springs?

I ask, because I'm itching to get new wheels on now. But, I'd also like the new Steeda springs, which will be released soon.

So, would I be paying to mount wheels now, then again when the new Steeda springs come out?

Thanks.

The charge for mounting tires is mostly for the time and labor on the tire machine and balancer.

If you pay to have the springs installed there is no additional charge for taking the wheels off.

You'll also need to get the car aligned after the car has had a few days to settle into the new springs. Since the S550 is so new lots of places seem to have difficulty with this part. I'd find a shop that has worked on the new Mustangs before.

Probably very few. So plan on having a Ford dealer do the alignment?
Same issue. Most of them will not have aligned a new Mustang yet. some will also be crybabies about the aftermarket parts if they have to put any effort into the job.

So its time to install my steeda springs and I would like to do it myself. I know a impact gun is recommended to make the install easier but is it necessary. I would like to hear feedback from people that have done the job themselves. Any tips to make the job easier?
