So I took my car to get its first oil change at a Ford dealer (it was free) but it would appear the tech left a small ding in my fender near the air filter.

It is small and hard to see but I'd like to get it fixed. So before the oil change, the tech and I walked around the car and determined there was no damage. So should I call the dealer and see what they say or just go buy a tool to buff it out?

What tools are good for removing small dings? Thanks!

Ding/dent or scratch? If it's a ding, have the dealer fix it, the have a PDR (paintless dent repair) guy that comes out to fix such issues. If it's a scratch and not through the clearcoat, they can polish it out.

It's a ding. The paint is unharmed and the actual damage is above the size of a nickel or so. It's small. But I'll call the dealer in the morning and see what they say. I just hope they don't fight me on it.

Thanks for the response

So kind of playing devils advocate here, but you left the dealership before noticing the dent? Might be a problem going back after the fact but hopefully they take care of you.

I thought of that. I was in such a hurry I totally forgot to look. Wasn't until I got back to work that I saw it. Oh well, live and learn I suppose

If they won't fix it find a good paintless dent repair guy where you are. I have had two dings pulled from my car and the paint is still intact and you can't see the dings anymore. About 100 per quarter size dent.. totally worth it.

Hey thanks for the reply. I did just this and the guy made the car like new. You could never tell there was a dent and the paint is fine. It cost $75 but whatever, small price to pay
