I purchased the Sony 850D about 3 weeks ago. Perfect picture and it will run full 4k from the new gaming systems, with the HDMI 2 cables. Also, I only have a regular blu-ray hooked up to it right now and the tv upscaling makes a huge difference, without true 4k. It will probably be the only 4k tv in my house so I'm waiting on the 4k PS4 to get true 4k.
Awesome!

I too have the Sony X850D in a 75". This thing is pretty damn amazing. Sony has THE BEST up-scaling of any TV out there right now. I looked at all the high end Samsung, LG, Vizio and Sharp 4K models and none of them hold a candle to Sony.

I run my PS4 on it and the graphics are excellent and it's latency is so low you won't even notice it when playing in "game" mode. Netflix also has 4K streaming movies out so if you have an account you can watch 4k content.

The only reason I didn't get the 950D is the price was twice as much as the 850. The 65" 850D is $1799 now at Best Buy, the 75" is $3499 last I checked.

Stay away from the "unauthorized" internet dealers. They aren't factory warranted (regardless of what they say) and you might end up with a refurbished unit or one that had factory defects. That's why they are so much cheaper...

I am not worried about future proofing. I do IT, so I know there is no such thing, just eventual upgrades down the road lol.
That was just a general observation :) [I'm a] Developer, architect, writer, 25+ years, currently working on a computer vision and VROS project with, well, you know ... so yeah, I get it :D

In fact, migrating the 65" from the bedroom to the landing/playroom, putting the plasma in the bedroom, will have a 4K set in the main TV room by the end of the year

Since I'm overseas, I'm waiting til I get back to the states to buy a 4K. I'll have the advantage of letting the market figure out the formatting, the content, and prices to settle down.

Those look great, seem to be way out of my price range and size requirement.
There is just no choice left today since you can't buy plasma. Lucky i have a 60vt60 plasma with under 2k hours on it. OLED also has it's share of probs. LED will never look as good as plasma. Plus you have banding and flash lighting probs with LED and motion blur.

When the clearances started on the VTs and other Panasonic plasmas, I _almost_ bought one and stored it ... :(

I have 2 more plasma sets stored away. Nothing beat the Kuro. LG has dropped the ball on OLED. Has way too many probs for the price.
