First of all, I can’t believe the amount of information as well as the level of knowledge of some of the individuals here in regard to the 2015 and up audio systems in our mustangs. I have been into mustangs for many years but new to this forum. Used to be a member of fnsweet for those who may have some knowledge of Roush Mustangs. Currently Have a 2007 427R and just got the wife a 2015 Stage 2. Always a Ford guy and have been happy with most of the Audio in previous cars and trucks. But WOW! Was I disappointed with the audio in the 2015. Need some advise.

Like many I have swapped out all the speakers in my 2015 with the 9 speaker system. Went with the Kicker upgrade throughout. Pretty good improvement but still need a little more low end. Not wanting to rattle anything as well as keep cost low.

What do you think of the following.

Audio Design & Custom Graphics - tail light sub box

Kicker 10 Inch 40cws104 sub and amp kit.

Audio Control LC2i. Controller

With this setup I should be able to control sub volume with head unit controls while pulling signal from the rear speakers.

Not wanting a lot of booming base but would like more lows at lower overall volume. Do you think this will get me what I want

Option 2 - Also looking into a JL fix 86 to adjust outputs for better sound. But it looks like it might be a nightmare to wire in for a novice. Anyone install one of these and how hard was it. When I look at some of the videos of shops putting in things like the JL Fix unit, the wiring looks absolutely crazy. And for me I think the OEM amp would do just fine. I would like to keep things as simple as possible.

Sure wish one of you audio engineering types would come up with a CD we could just insert that would allow us to adjust our frequencys back to flat. I am sure that person could create a business with that.

Just looking for candid opinions and / or recommendations about my options. Thanks so much for your time.

PS - This is one of the better Mustang forums I have seen in all aspects.

Welcome to the forums!

I don't want to be one of those guys that tells you how to spend your hard earned cash, but I will say this... when it comes to bass, it's better to have too much and not need it than wishing you had more. Having said that, I would recommend two subs over one because you can always turn it down.

The enclosures from Audio Design & Custom Graphics are great looking, but I'm guessing they are probably pricey just due to the man hours involved in building them. Folks on this board have been pretty happy with the boxes from zenclosures.com, and they make several styles.

From the sounds of things, you would probably be perfectly happy going the Audio Control LC2i route with a decent amp and then the sub/box of your choosing.

When you start looking at the JL unit, things will get more complicated... So, if you are looking for simple and cost effective, I'd go with option #1.

Thanks mumbles,
I would tend to agree with you. I have looked at zen closures as well. They look nice but the do not seem to have a back / side enclosure. I really don't want to block the folding seats. I will contact them to see if the make one not on the website.

As much as we like our new Mustang, I would have never thought that I would be dealing with such built in poor audio performance. Thanks.

I’ve got one Rockford P3 12” and it booms hooked up to a mono 750 Rockford amp. I do want a different box though. It takes up a lot of the trunk. I can still get some golf clubs in there though. My entire setup was installed for $1000 and that include all new speakers (base) and 2 amps.
