Anyone removed it?
Sponsored
The one on the intake tube? No, but I plan to just get a GT350 elbow to delete it eventually.Anyone removed it?
Bullitts done have a tube, its got a box hanging form it, and looking at it I'm not sure its removable. I havent had mine off to see though. it looks molded on.Just remove thee tube and cap it with a silicone cap.
Shows how much I have paid attention to that vs the GT lol. I should examine my Bullitt a bit better.Bullitts done have a tube, its got a box hanging form it, and looking at it I'm not sure its removable. I havent had mine off to see though. it looks molded on.
Just checked a couple of on line dealers. The elbow is #15 in the intake diagram. Not available as a separate item. Gah ! Time to check the salvage yards
I've not had mine off to 100% check it fits but teh TB and airbox are th same sizes so I see no reason it shouldnt.Thank you. Good to know it fits. We aren't stuck with that damn sound tube are we ?
I could be wrong I havent looked super close.Shows how much I have paid attention to that vs the GT lol. I should examine my Bullitt a bit better.
Yep. Bullitts have 'enhanced' (as in fake) sound thru the speakers, instead of the tube, due to the different intake. And that 'box' is a Helmholtz anti-resonance chamber, so DO NOT remove it, or you'd actually lose power, due to turbulence in the intake.Bullitts don't have a tube, its got a box hanging form it
Anti-resonance is about sound, not airflow. it wont affect power at all.Yep. Bullitts have 'enhanced' (as in fake) sound thru the speakers, instead of the tube, due to the different intake. It's both. Look it up. Why do you think it's there?Anti-resonance is about sound, not airflow. it wont affect power at all.
For sound requirements. It has 0 to do with power. If it in any way increased power they would have used it on the GT350 also. Anything removing air turbulence is done BEFORE the MAF, where it would matter. Not after it. Removing that box is one of the first mods on ANY car from an 90's Escort to a 2003 Mach1. Why do you think that NO aftermarket intakes has one built in?It's both. Look it up. Why do you think it's there?
Like I said.. sound requirements. I'm VERY familiar with fluid dynamics. I've also been modifying cars for over 20years.You don't want undesirable turbulence in an intake system, period. If the stock system has a 'box', it's because it needs it. If you want to remove it, remove it. It's not like it's going to lose 100HP. But it's there for a reason. The engine runs smoother with it, or Ford (or any other manufacturer) wouldn't spend the money to install it. Some cars don't have it because it's not needed. Mustangs have a freaking sound tube to put noise into the cabins, so it's not about not making noise, but do whatever you want with your car. I'm out of this discussion.
