Hi everyone

I'm new to this forum so thought I'd do this post to say hi, and to let you know what upgrades I've done to my s550 so far - in case you've got any questions or are interested in doing any of the same mods...

I've always wanted a Mustang and really fancied upgrading it given all the mods available... I'm working towards a street/track/drift kind of style here - a bit 'in ya face' if you know what I mean, and will be having a whipple stage 2 fitted in due course.

Here's how she looked on collection day from Ford vs how she looks now:

The First thing I did was to get a Roush Axle-back Exhaust fitted. Much better sound (although will be taking it off temporarily and putting stock back on soon for a track day).

Also had a hood scoop and side scoops fitted, plus KW coilovers with 35mm lowering at the front and 30mm at the rear - that's about the most I would recommend as it does result in speed bumps being scraped even with this ride height if you're not careful. This was all done at GT101

The lights including brake lights and reflectors were all tinted and black side and front badging was put on - this was all from Big Worm Graphix in the US.

I then got the chrome trim wrapped in black. This and the other mods below were all done by JW racing

I had some vinyl things done in red - all custom cut as opposed to purchased off the net:
- Hood stripes - JW racing
- pinstripe on carbon lowers - JW racing
- pinstripe on wing mirrors - JW racing
- red logos (I obtained the vector graphics files direct from suppliers and had the vinyl made up to fit by a company in Essex)

And fog light tints added from Big Worm Graphix

The carbon fibre bits are all from Anderson composites in the US:
- rear wing
- rear diffuser
- side splitters
- front splitter

I had the calipers painted red and some Eibach parts then added:
- Eibach wheel spacers
- Eibach anti roll bars
- Eibach camber bolts
Also Steeda differential bushing inserts

I've gone for soft on the front roll bar and the stiffest setting on the rear to try and induce more oversteer, in theory.

I went for EBC yellowstuff brake pads because of track days...

For the cold air intake I went for Steeda as I'd read some good reviews. Quite happy with it so far. This is a temporary measure though until the whipple goes in.

I had a Ford Racing plain black decklid fitted because you can't just remove the GT badge without it leaving holes behind. I think this works well with the blacked out look.. Keen to know what you all think:

I had a Steeda Clutch spring and Steeda tri-ax short throw shifter fitted to help with speedy gear changes. Wouldn't say the difference is hugely dramatic, but certainly noticeably quicker and easier to shift:

For the interior I've done the following:
GT350R shifter knob
GT350R Red Starter Button
Steeda black reverse lockout
JPM coachworks:
- red stitched alcantara handbrake boot
- red stitched alcantara console cover
- red stitched alcantara gear lever boot
Red leather beading on console and doors
GT350R steering wheel (in the garage still not yet fitted)

And tinted windows just done recently:

No doubt some will think it's too 'loud' and some will like it... Personally I'm loving the 'stang... it's a bit addictive though, I've never known a car to have so many good mods available! :-)

Ben
ps If anyone is interested in coming on a track day, I'm booked for Monday 15th August at Bedford Autodrome. It's ÂŁ169 for the day and open to novices as well as people that have been before. Would be great to see some other Mustangs there.

Nice.

Get the whipple in then, what a machine!

Love to eventually go down the Whipple route myself (or TT).

Anyway, welcome.

anubis ANother welcome - again, lovely to see the write up all in once place, as you know I personally love what you've done with the car. Looks every bit as mean as you promised it would :)

anubis welcome, nice car looking good. Was that the Steeda tri-ax short throw shifter you fitted the shortened shifter stick or the full mt82 short throw race shifter?

You certainly seem to have put a lot of thought and work (not to mention your hard-earned) into the car... and in my opinion - it's paid off big time... absolutely love what you done and it's certainly made it individual.

Not too loud or OTT for me... and thanks for the post 'cos you've just helped me to tick a few things off the list and make a few final decisions. I've been so tempted by the Anderson CF stuff as it looks really top notch, but never really seen it in what I would call a 'complete package' - but think I can safely say it looks well worth the money! The KW's were also another item on my shortlist, although I think I might not have the balls to go 35/30 and will probably play a little safer there.

One of the best Mustang's I've seen to date and a true head turner... without the need to even turn the engine on :hail: !

Very nice that!
Though I'd get rid of some of the decals, but otherwise I really like it. :)

Hi Bronzetooth - it's this one here, not the entire kit but still gives 30% throw reduction. I really don't feel like I need the other bits (although they can be added on later if necessary) because the shifts are so good now. I think different people have different experiences with the gear shifts on their cars from what I've read - some people find it difficult to get from 2nd to 3rd for example and the full kit can help with that I believe.

Thanks and yes the logos might go eventually (especially now that the red pinstripes are done) but not for now :-) Got the idea from the Anderson Composites demo car:

Thanks Nookie... Yes no complaints re the Anderson Composites stuff - I'm convinced it's the best out there. The company is owned by Seibon which is obviously a very good sign. Quality and fitment is top notch.

And yes re lowering I would say the ideal would be about 31mm front and 27mm rear personally (re kerbs etc and with this bodykit). The KW's are adjustable of course. I might raise mine up at some point but I love the way it looks and am happy for the moment going reaaaally slowly over speed bumps.
