Hi everyone
I'm new to this forum so thought I'd do this post to say hi, and to let you know what upgrades I've done to my s550 so far - in case you've got any questions or are interested in doing any of the same mods...
I've always wanted a Mustang and really fancied upgrading it given all the mods available... I'm working towards a street/track/drift kind of style here - a bit 'in ya face' if you know what I mean, and will be having a whipple stage 2 fitted in due course.
Here's how she looked on collection day from Ford vs how she looks now:
The First thing I did was to get a Roush Axle-back Exhaust fitted. Much better sound (although will be taking it off temporarily and putting stock back on soon for a track day).
Also had a hood scoop and side scoops fitted, plus KW coilovers with 35mm lowering at the front and 30mm at the rear - that's about the most I would recommend as it does result in speed bumps being scraped even with this ride height if you're not careful. This was all done at GT101
The lights including brake lights and reflectors were all tinted and black side and front badging was put on - this was all from Big Worm Graphix in the US.
I then got the chrome trim wrapped in black. This and the other mods below were all done by JW racing
I had some vinyl things done in red - all custom cut as opposed to purchased off the net:
- Hood stripes - JW racing
- pinstripe on carbon lowers - JW racing
- pinstripe on wing mirrors - JW racing
- red logos (I obtained the vector graphics files direct from suppliers and had the vinyl made up to fit by a company in Essex)
And fog light tints added from Big Worm Graphix
The carbon fibre bits are all from Anderson composites in the US:
- rear wing
- rear diffuser
- side splitters
- front splitter
I had the calipers painted red and some Eibach parts then added:
- Eibach wheel spacers
- Eibach anti roll bars
- Eibach camber bolts
Also Steeda differential bushing inserts
I've gone for soft on the front roll bar and the stiffest setting on the rear to try and induce more oversteer, in theory.
I went for EBC yellowstuff brake pads because of track days...
For the cold air intake I went for Steeda as I'd read some good reviews. Quite happy with it so far. This is a temporary measure though until the whipple goes in.
I had a Ford Racing plain black decklid fitted because you can't just remove the GT badge without it leaving holes behind. I think this works well with the blacked out look.. Keen to know what you all think:
I had a Steeda Clutch spring and Steeda tri-ax short throw shifter fitted to help with speedy gear changes. Wouldn't say the difference is hugely dramatic, but certainly noticeably quicker and easier to shift:
For the interior I've done the following:
GT350R shifter knob
GT350R Red Starter Button
Steeda black reverse lockout
JPM coachworks:
- red stitched alcantara handbrake boot
- red stitched alcantara console cover
- red stitched alcantara gear lever boot
Red leather beading on console and doors
GT350R steering wheel (in the garage still not yet fitted)
And tinted windows just done recently:
No doubt some will think it's too 'loud' and some will like it... Personally I'm loving the 'stang... it's a bit addictive though, I've never known a car to have so many good mods available! :-)
Ben
ps If anyone is interested in coming on a track day, I'm booked for Monday 15th August at Bedford Autodrome. It's ÂŁ169 for the day and open to novices as well as people that have been before. Would be great to see some other Mustangs there.
