Anyone know why there is a gap under the headlights. Style? Air purpose? Finally cleared the bugs off front and waxed the hell out of it!! Looks awesome!

Maybe that’s where the housing for the washers for the EU market should have gone. But then they decided to use 25W lamps in EU, hence bypassing the EU requirements (US lamps are 35W) and saving on extra engineering and manufacturing.

Just guessing.

I used the turtle bug remover a 3rd time and let is soak for 20 minutes or so. Then lightly removed any left with finger. I was very lucky I had used a turtle spray protectant on car a while ago. Have to clean it after every outing and wax the hell out of it.. Some type of alien bug out there. Too much of a close call for a beautiful automobile.

Very interesting idea. The most logical. I think it would have looked better full light. Tighter less jagged space.

That does sound excessive. Glad you didn't let alien bug guts stay on your paint too long then!

I looked into that before purchasing my 2019. Even got into the lower level of FoMoCo. From various sources, I got 'brake ducts', 'engine air intake', 'driving lights on non-U.S. cars' & (from Ford) 'styling signature' (???). At this point, I would say 'D' ... none of the above. That's my story & I'm stickin' to it!!! :sunglasses:

Could very well be Corporate Design language. Look at this fusion headlight from a 2019 Ford Fusion. And the Ford Focus looked a bit like that too.
It does explain the shape of the light. But not so much why the gap could not be filled up on the mustang.

Weird. I think they screwed up but we will never know why. Just illogical and strange. Just another place for alien creatures to hide out not noticed until its too late!!!!!
