So I was completing my first full detail this morning and noticed a headlight fitment issue on the left headlight. The light does not fit flush inside the front bumper and hood. The right side appears to be fine. Is there a way to adjust this or is this a body panel fitment issue? This is really bothering me and should not be present on a brand new vehicle.. Here take a look.

Show that issue to your dealership. They might be able to refit it flush. The bumper will have to be removed, though to get to it for adjustment.

I appreciate the quick reply. A trip to the dealer is a PITA for me and was hoping to avoid it. I guess I don't have a choice. I don't mind removing the bumper for an adjustment, as long as there is one. I just don't want to get into realigning body panels.

Yeh man. Just consider it part of the charm of the car! Lol. Lots of threads on these types of issues dating back to the first S550's in 2015 (which is what I have). I kind of can't believe stuff like this is still coming out of the factory. Most of the time it's little things like minor panel misalignments and such. I do recall seeing another Mustang at the dealership when I was buying mine that had 1 headlight that was significantly out of wack. Not sure if it was the headlight or the bumper cover but it was pretty bad.

I've never taken the bumper cover off of mine yet so I can't say for sure if there is any adjustment. I would assume there is though. I would definitely recommend having the dealer take care of it. Maybe wait a little bit in case you find some other issues and can take it in and get them all knocked out at once.

Shame on Ford. You would think they would have a bit of quality control on their premier sports car. Looking at it again, it appears the hood and door gap are slightly wider on the right side than the left which may be why the light is not flush on the left side. I will update next week after visit to dealer.

My '16 has the same issue. I got over it. I think if they pull the bumper cover, i may end up with more damage fixing it. P.S, Don't look at your rear window either. :(
Still a great car overall, but I think the QC people are busy smoking crack in the bathroom.

No doubt about the crack smoking and "looks good from my house" attitude. The dealer basically snubbed me, saying it was not a warranty issue.

They did say they would "Look at it" and see if anything could be done but I would have to leave it for three days. Yeah right. Soooooo, what I plan to do is take off the front bumper for my Team Beefcake Procharger II :headbang: install and take a closer look at it and see if i can adjust it a bit.

I'm fairly sure mine has it too, I'm still looking over it to find things to point out for when I get it back to the dealer on Monday coming up. I noticed the bumper seam that is at the tip of the headlight on I think the right side of mine isn't flush. Could be because of crappy moulding. Really can't believe these are still such bad QA issues 2 years after release.

Mine had that to. There is one single bolt on top of each light. Loosen this up, position headlight slightly in or out as much as possible then re tighten bolt.
Will not be perfect but better than before.

I know this is an old thread but I figured I should pass this along...

After finding this same problem with my driver side light, and reading this thread, I loosened that bolt, which didn't give me enough wiggle room to adjust the position further toward the center of the car. So, I completely removed the bolt and used my utility knife with a fresh razor blade to open up the bolt hole on the RIGHT side of the hole (if facing the car). I also opened up the right side of the hole surrounding a small tab to the left of that bolt. And then I took some material off of the left side of the entire headlight bracket where the bolt mounts, as well as some material to the left of that to split the difference. Then I cleaned it up a little with my dremel. All of that gave me much more slack to move the headlight further into the center to reduce the poke I had coming out near the bumper and fender. It's not perfect, but it's much much better than it was before. I'd say I got it to sit maybe a 1/4 inch further in than before. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow if that helps. Just move slow and gentle with that bracket. I'm pretty sure if you break that, it means a new headlight.
