$500 to install headers is as good as you are going to find at any reputable shop.

If you don't want to spend the $, then your only options are to find someone local who has done the job before and is willing to do the work for a lower price out of his own garage, or find the time to tackle the job yourself.

I called and asked for a quote, they told me $600. That's a bit steep imo.

Ask him if he'll do it for $500. Tell him someone on these forums told you he did it for $500. Won't hurt to ask.
