I have a 2018 with the MT-82 and really hate that I get locked out going into 2nd and the grind going into 3rd at high RPM. I take my car to the drag strip a few times a year and it's really annoying. I have never had such issues in my 83, 88, 99 or 2006 Mustangs, only this one.

Has anyone in here had success in making this transmission work better by upgrading to a better clutch or shifter or both? If you have I would love to hear your feedback.

Most of the lockout issues come from the remote mounted shifter on the body of the car, depending on how much the transmission moves under full throttle with the engine. I'd try an MGW or some other transmission mounted shifter bracket first before spending money on a clutch and see if it solves your issue. Plus people rave about the improved feel the MGW provides. Never seen someone say bad things about it on here.

The MGW totally resolved my second gear lockout issues. I can't recommend it enough.

Do either of you have issues with grinding when shifting into 3rd gear at or near redline?

I experienced that with the stock shifter but not with the MGW.

Something that helped too which may sound dumb is adjusting my seat position a little closer so that the heel of my foot was flat against the floorboard with the clutch pushed all the way down. Before I did that I suspect some of my issue was not full depressing the clutch when shifting fast but YMMV.
