I have no complaints about the "Shaker" in my car. Sounds great in my opinion and definitely better than the Sony in my wife's Edge. I use my I pod exclusively and rarely anything else and have no complaints. I thought the same about the Shaker at the dealership in its default mode but it woke up when tuned correctly. If it sounded that "flat" and "hissy" you could have missed something when tuning it.

It's pretty good once you boost treble and reduce the bass a bit.
I'm glad I got the 401A.
To all commenting one the Shaker. This is just my opinion and should NOT be used for anyone's purchasing thoughts. Yes, my wife and I enjoy music. In fact, let's just say that in our home we are running two 5 channel 300w per channel amps and this sub-woofer http://www.svsound.com/products/pb13-ultra Do we expect the car to sound like the home? Heck no! But we know what sounds good to us. Accuracy and full range. Not "Boomy" or "Loud" noise.

For a factory system I do believe it is one of the better ones for a mass produced vehicle. I think I had to much anticipation in my mind on how good it was going to sound and hoped I would NOT have to fix it for our desired listening taste. This has ended up not being the case.

Now, we have played with the controls that we could find thus far and have it at a "Meh" sound (Best we could muster). But it is clear the 8" woofer is just there to provide noise, not accuracy. And it seems the speakers are not allowed a broad enough tuning spectrum to get the best out of them.

I do hope we get some kind of an update to allow more of an equalizer control. This and an aftermarket sub will do wonders for our car.

And for me this is important as I am in the car a couple hours each day normally.

Hope that helps :headbang:

Honestly think the first company that comes up with a factory speaker upgrade ( Jbl, Polk, paradigm, etc. etc.) that is DESIGNED ( impedance, efficiency and power handling) to be a direct swap out upgrade for the factory budget speakers will do very well. It's very doable, and I'm quite surprised it hasn't been done yet and I'm sure the improvement would be vast, while not as good as full aftermarket, but still light years better.

I guess I approached it from the exact opposite. Being on these forums for a year before I got my car I read so much negativity towards the 401a shaker that my expectations were extremely low and just assumed it would sound like total crap. It sounds way better to me than my preset low expectations.

We did a little goofing off today and played with the Sport+ option. Works decently on hills and windy roads. The wife loves it.

This car is definitely fun to drive and addictive. And I must say. The rims are growing on me. I think I decided they are keepers today. I like the design and ease to clean them. That said, I wondered how the brighter aluminum portion would look in a gunmetal and the grey portions to be a dark matte...

Still pretty giddy on the tires. The best mod ever for us on a Mustang. If one would call it that.

So.......

Wife wanted to take the car for a spin and was backing it out of the garage. I was standing in the garage waiting to get in (Passenger side to close to the wall for me to get in, in the garage) and I noticed a lot of pulley noises coming from under the hood. Might have been the compressor. Going to keep an eye on it (Might be part of the breaking in stuff) but it was defiantly a new noise and sounded "Hoopty" like.

Struggling with what exhaust to get. Leaning towards the Corsa cat-back sport with the black tips. Only things stopping me is that they cost half of what the new riding lawnmower I want cost and I worry it will sound to "Truck" like...

These tires continue to impress us. Went around a 10mph corner with a "Little bit of throttle" and two wheeled the car a bit. Historically with our 2007 & 2014 GT's the front would push and the rear would fishout. Not with this car and these tires!

Add me to the list of "Say whaaaat, there is a sun-glass holder in the dash! Sweeeeeet!".

The navigation is by far the best factory navigation we have ever used to date. It is more accurate than our $699 Garmin 660 (Purchased five years ago I think) that we have a lifetime map updater for. It is faster and I am pleased to see the posted MPH information was not removed from the unit. It is nice to just glance down to see what it is on roads that we do not drive on a regular biases.

LOVE the premium leather seats. Cooling sucks, but we do love how they support you in the right places. However, as a big fella, the marks I am already getting on the outer seat hump when I get in the car is really bothering me. I am a 6'2" 225lbs. fella. Even with the seat sitting where I need it to drive I am marking up the seat. I may have to set my remote to the far back position and then move my seat forward to drive. Kind of defeating the cool idea of the automatic seat adjust when you hit the remote so you can just get in and drive without making adjustments...

Not to happy that we still do not have good mudflaps/splash guards. None of what I have seen in the threads on the forum are worthy of being on these cars. We need form fitting ones, not trucker lounge cutouts...

I routinely take curves way too far passed the posted "limits" and get nothing. Not a shimmy, no push, nothing. Very surprised with grip.

Small update.

Amazing weather all week was met with pure enjoyment of driving our new car. I have an hour commute and loving every minute of it.

One item of note. I definitely have a vibration at 50-55 mph. Any faster and it is hard to tell if it stopped or other "Stuff" is causing the vibration. Drop back to 47mph and the car is smooth as ice.

And washing the car is just a waste of time right now. The pollen is significant right now. TO the point we use the wiper blades after a few hours of the car being parked, just so we can have a clear view through the windshield. And of course a yellow cloud the first 50 feet or so of driving follows.

We enjoy Sport mode the best.

We also have found the suspension is weaker than anticipated. While it is quite nice for commuting, it allows for to much body movement.
