To those who put their lives on the line, the ones who stayed at the line for eternity, those who came back with changes they and their families didn't expect, and perhaps the ones who came back a little better than when they left; a heartfelt THANK YOU! for serving the greatest country on the planet. :flag:

I would love to celebrate even more those that put their lives on the line for our freedom, but Mein Fuhrer in Michigan continues to lock us up now until 6/12... nice she waited for Memorial Day weekend to announce this mockery of the Constitution.

Mike, thank you for posting. I know you sent this from the heart and the sentiments are greatly appreciated. But just so you know the words "Happy" and "Memorial Day" cannot go together.

Yeah, I was thinnin' that. Perhaps only for the ones who came back relatively unscathed.

Just to be clear, Memorial Day is the day we remember the fallen. It is not a day to thank veterans, or those serving at the present time, we have veterans day and armed forces day to honor them.

Civil War (both U.S. and Confederate) 750,000

World War II 405,000

World War I 116,000

Vietnam War 58.000

Korean War 36,000

Revolutionary War 25,000

War of 1812 15,000

Mexican American War 13,000

Iraq War 4,000

Philippine–American War 4,000

Spanish–American War 2,000

War in Afghanistan 2,000

This is not a complete list but it should give you some idea of the cost. The life you enjoy today wasn't and isn't free.

I will never understand how we as Americans can tolerate what memorial day has become. A day to party? A day for dealers to run great deals on cars? Sadly I have met many people who don't even know what memorial day is, no offence but some on this forum don't seem to get it either.

Always remember a fallen soldier. If I may I would suggest listening to this and remember that freedom has a price.

I was going to hit like but that also seems inappropriate. Just wanted to say thank you for posting. Maybe, just maybe, if our government really felt that this should be a day of remembrance instead of a weekend of sales they would do something about it. I'm sure we could all live one day without shopping.
