I've been told I have a slot available through the military overseas program that I can get a 2020 GT350R for MSRP with a non-refundable $5,000 deposit and that this was an amazing deal.

From my research online, it appears some 2019 350R's aren't going for much over invoice. Would paying MSRP for a 2020 350R be silly? The car would be delivered to me in Germany to drive over there for three years.

Or I could just get a regular 350...

I missed the GT500 lottery by just a few weeks :(.

Only you can decide if its worth it. I think MSRP is a good price. Link me to any near invoice deals please lol.

I would not pay MSRP for a 2020 R but many would. I wouldn't say it's a bad deal but I have already pointed out a 2020 R at $1k over invoice in the allocations sticky thread.

I hear tale that 19's are just as good as previous year R's performance wise due to new wheels and suspension tuning. I would look for a non R with the handling pack you can find 19's at invoice

Id say the 2020 R is worth MSRP to have the updates. The only part that scares me is the gas mileage and European petrol prices. I filled mine up yesterday and showed 175 miles till E with a full tank. Also be aware that the R is super low. I scrape constantly driving in NJ and I am very careful.
I have 1100 miles on my '20 R and am loving every minute of it. It will get crazy attention in Europe. If it was my daily I might settle for a standard 350 for the ground clearance and back seat. Buy the resonator delete and you're good to go.

I'd pay all day MSRP for one of the GT500 allocations since it is a new model and brings a lot to the table. I do love the 350R but it's a five year old car now with 19's around invoice. Paying MSRP doesn't seem like a deal at all.

As for European fuel prices, as I am military I get 300 gallons of fuel ration coupons per month at US petrol prices (I can use those coupons at any Esso station in Germany). One of the reasons I can bring a gas guzzler like these Mustangs to Europe.

It will be my daily driver, so I am thinking a regular GT350 would be a better option. If I sell the car in Europe, I'm not sure if the extra $13K the R version costs more would show up in the resale value.

So basically it looks like I am either going to get a 2020 GT350 delivered to Germany or purchase a lightly used C7 Z06/Z07 for around the same cost and ship it over.

If you don't want to pay MSRP there are used GT350Rs out there.

Where in NJ are you?

OP. I would pay MSRP for a 2020 R if you can get one. Remember, the car will loose some of its value initially but in the long run it will be worth more than the regular 350.

the carbon fiber wheels and Wong alone are worth the extra money for the R. I wouldn’t base my decision on wether I’m going to scrape the car or not while daily driving it. If you’re so worried about scrapping, don’t install the front R spoiler when you get the car. Install the regula 350 spoiler instead and save the OEM R spoiler. That thing is $1500 !!

MSRP for a 2020 R is good. BUT consider a leftover 19 R. I just bought a performance blue for $4800 under msrp.
