haha, nah. I'm a die hard track enthusiast. I seriously considered a GT350 TP but ultimately the C7 won out. Probably because I rode is several of my friends C7's on the track and never had the opportunity to be in a GT350 or 350R during hot laps.I remember you on C5, i thought you were a die hard camaro guy. Never thought I'd see you here. lol
I suppose I am in the minority but I'll take a GS over a Z06 any day of the week, at least right now. GM has only said they improved cooling on the '17 Z06, not solved the over heat issue completely. Tadge just said they have adjusted some of the bumper and hood nothing concrete on an intercooler or blower, so I'd still bet against it.For GS money, you might as well get a left over '16 C7Z.
Check out auto trader or cars.com. Quite a few C7Z going for under 75k. There are almost 2000 2016 c7z just sitting in dealer lots. GM is pushing dealers with rebates and discounts (10%, 16%) off, to sell the '16 because the upgraded '17 is coming soon.
Not sure many people will want a 16 with cooling issues over a 17.
Chevy is working on a fix for the Z06. Time will tell if it will be a "backward compatible" fix or not.Because of all the Hugh discounts on the new C7's .....You can get a 15 Z51 1LT 8 speed coupe with 5000 miles for $51K if you look real hard. It's a looker and a decent track car. 3.7 and 11.9 not to shabby. Plus it's got all the coolers you need. In a couple of years there will be a ton of used great performance cars to choose from. Still not sure about the C7 Z06 Heat soak issues @ this time.
I like tracking a lot, but the car will be seeing more street use then track use. Track days for Laguna Seca and Sonoma vary in pricing (300-500), depending on which track company. The cheaper track days have more cars too, so less of a chance to really open up the car.I suppose I am in the minority but I'll take a GS over a Z06 any day of the week, at least right now. Anyone that is getting the C7 GS for a track toy would opt out of the nearly $8k Z06 package. Carbon Ceramic brakes are usually swapped out to iron ones, unless you're made of money or only track once or twice a year. The aero you can easily buy, heck I have Stage III aero on my Z51 right now. Tires would also likely be changed out to a slick. So in my opinion a GS non Z07 is the way to go, in which case you're looking at low $70s. My 2LT Z51 MSRP'd for $69 but with deals I paid $62. I'm sure in a year or two new C7 GS's will have sweet deals.
