Aston is probably gone, BMW is on its way out.

Two Nissan's, the Boss (aka the Assassin) and a Porsche.

The Camaro's get bogged down when they pile together. It was interesting to hear the driver talk about that.

Anyway, the Jim Click Boss practiced the oldest Rule of Mustang Ownership.

Rule #1: Your Mustang is always the best Mustang.

Sorry #15, it's a Mustang not a Bulldozer.

That would have been a 1-2 rape if #15 would have just cooled off.

Super impressive. The GT350 earned a 58mm restrictor right off the bat. The z28 uses a 60mm as of now. Initially, the z28 was 3400lbs and only used an 80mm restrictor.

It did shitty last year and didn't really get good until just recently.

I'm not understanding how the z28 can have a laundry list of advantages but still lick balls...

Good work Multimatic!!! Can't wait to see the new car in 2 weeks!

Just some prospective...

Laguna Seca, May 2014...

To be completely honest, manufacturers given up on the class primarily due to Camaro z28 shenanigans. If it wasn't for some insanely bad luck, the z28 would had been doing this last year.

I think everyone reading remembers how much displeasure I expressed about this very issue. One of the major concerns was either everyone would flood to the z28 or manufacturers would just quit.

9 cars finished the race today, 4 were z28's...

Tell me again how class perimeters aren't important again? How good the z28 is for the sport in general...

Ford will play... doubt anyone else will...

That's because there isn't any. They follow the same rules as everyone else.

Sure they do... nevermind the 100hp advantage, 500lbs weight reduction allowance, a 2 liter advantage and was only fitted with an 80mm restrictor.

Okay...

Ford's playing by those rules now except the weigh allowance and initial restrictor size.

Whatever man...

Not to mention Pratt and Miller design and built the car and ONLY Pratt and Miller. Ford Performance at least designed, engineered and built the car. Multimatic provides feedback, Pratt and Miller are the SOLE reason the z28r exist.

So, put that back in the deck...

100 hp over what car? The 80mm was changed real fast to 75, then down to 68, and now 60. The lightest the z got was 3400lbs and that got bump up real quick to 3500lbs, and now at 3575lbs. Still far the heaviest car out there. The liter size has nothing to do with anything. And who cares who builds the engine.

The obvious manufacturer and team protest we see right now is a DIRECT PRODUCT of z28r classing.

Roush, Turner, most of Fall-Line, Black Forest, BMW, Aston teams and Porsche have packed their bags and left...

It went from 26 cars last year to 11 or so today.

The GT350 won't help matters any...

Now, if an M4.R, 911 and a 370z NISMO+ show up next year, it's on...

Doubt it...

Who's fault is this? GM for coming out with this car, or IMSA allowing the Z and now the GT350 in this class?

The two highest HP cars were the Boss 302 and M3. They were about 370rwhp with the 58 and 36x2 restrictors.

That stayed like that for almost 1/2 the damn season. It didn't see 3500lbs till this year... 75mm was added last year and changed to 68 later.

Pratt and Miller created the z28r like Tiger did the 302S.

Back in the deck...

I was suprise 911 can only keep pace with gt350, and not taken a lead.

All season last year the z28 had a significant HP advantage. It just had bad luck... The 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st and like 2 poles is the reason the z28's weight and restrictions are where they are.

Don't forget the GT350 got a 58mm restrictor right away... It's still probably 100hp too strong where the z28 retains about a 60rwhp advantage.

Please stop trying to convince people the z28 only makes 425 and the Boss 302 made 480... It's nonsense and so is this argument.

People on here aren't stupid...

It's only a 997, a 911 is needed now.

Cedric and the GT350 was so strong, Austin could dictate the exact distance between him and the Porsche.

He sandbagged and kept it between .480 and .850...

Then he hammered it out to a 4.7xx second lead...

waving out the window to the ST guys...

The Z/28 was new last year and now has restrictions on it, much like what we're probably going to see with the GT350R-C this year. It weigh's BY FAR the most, has big time restrictors and it's still doing well. I don't get why people are making a big deal about the liter difference. It's only got one cam and half as many valves as the 5.0 or 5.2L.. Ford goes with lower displacement but more cams/valves to make power where as Chevy goes with more displacement and smaller overall packaging with less cams and valves. Two different strategies to achieve similar results (big power).

The obvious manufacturer and team protest we see right now is a DIRECT PRODUCT of z28r classing.
If manufacturer's can't create a vehicle that can compete with Ford or Chevy then shame on them. Don't blame Ford or Chevy for this.

I would expect to see these cars, the sport is evolving. First there was the Camaro 6.2L, now the Camaro Z/28R. First there was the Mustang Boss 302R GT then the Shelby GT350R-C. Chevy and Ford are continuing to progress as should the rest of the field. It is foolish to think that the field would stay with the same Aston Martin Vantage, BMW M3 E92, Nissan 370Z, Porsche 997, etc.

Agreed, but I'm not surprised. It's a new car in the field and a hell of a one at that. Love the car.
