So I was in and out of the house all day running errands with my car, pushing her at times but nothing crazy. When I was finally done, I parked in the driveway for about 30 minutes before pulling into the garage for the evening. Upon moving the car, I noticed a small puddle of neon green fluid on the driveway along with a trail of drops (same fluid) following the car into the garage. The puddle appears to have been underneath the front passenger side area, close to the wheel. Any ideas what this is?

I've been checking under the car for the last 2 hours since then and there's nothing leaking. I also checked both the engine coolant reservoir (although the antifreeze is red, not green) and the oil dipstick, both levels are fine. FWIW, the oil level is the same as when I checked it a week ago. I remember someone mentioning in another thread that the cars come from the factory with certain dyes in the oil to help detect leaks. Is that the case here?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!!!!!!

I was thinking maybe refrigerant but the 15 uses R-134 and that appears red if it ever has time to accumulate. If the coolant is red I have no ideas.

Guess this post doesn't help, unless others thought refrigerant is green!

EDIT: unless they put dye in the refrigerant system to help with leaks like you said.

I'm guessing it's a dye, I just don't know for which fluid.

Yes, dye in the A/C system is normal practice in detecting leaks. If you can use a black light use it. Any A/C leak that has dye will show up like fireworks where it's leaking.. We did dye the system when we did repairs but couldn't say 100% it came from factory like that.

Keep us posted.

Thanks everyone.

I really don't want to be taking in my car for service while i'm back home on vacation, but if there's another puddle under it tomorrow I may not have a choice.

Take a picture if possible of the liquid.

 I don't know why it didn't occur to me to take a pic earlier while it was still bright out. It's dark now but i'll see if I can take one tomorrow. It was semi thick and very, very green - literally neon green in color.

The oil in the A/C system is also a yellowish green neon color, could very well be an A/C leak. I'm betting on it. Turn A/C on full blast and let it run for a bit then check it out.

Interesting. I'm wondering why it started leaking today tho, I didn't run the A/C earlier (it's cold as shit up here!) nor have I at all since getting the car.

I'll try that out tomorrow and post the results. Thanks

Update: Took my car in for service to have this checked out. It appears that I somehow ran over a bottle (???) or puddle of antifreeze and a good amount of it got caught up on the underside of the car and around the wheel well of the front passenger side tire. They said there were no leaks at all and that generally speaking the car was super clean underneath, aside from the antifreeze that got on my car. Very strange, considering that I'm extra careful to not run anything over or even go over large puddles if possible to avoid.

They also said the oil in the A/C system on these cars is more of a yellowish color, and that the green fluid found on my car didn't match anything that's used in the S550. They were positive it was green antifreeze.

Definitely one of the stranger things that's happened to one of my cars, but thankfully it means there's no issue. I'll keep an eye on it going forward but I've yet to notice any further leaking.

Thanks everyone for your input!!

Glad to hear that it was a false alarm, Farmundeh! Keep an eye on it; if you have any future concerns, let me know. I'll use any resources on my end to assist.

Sounds like your buddies are playing a prank on you.
That's what I was gonna say...at least that'd be funny; no one hurt, no damage done!

Or maybe a jealous neighbor that still likes cars...

Hahahah who knows. I've made it a habit to put my car in the garage overnight now whenever i'm back home. This past summer I caught some dude scoping out my S197 a little too closely in the driveway. I tried engaging him in conversation and he really wasn't having it. Needless to say, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
