You guys need to hold your horses a bit.

You can't just take a MAF and throw it in a random sized tube and have it work correctly.

The MAF measures flow at a tiny point, it depends on knowing the exact diameter of the tube it is installed in to calculate the actual air flow. To put a MAF in a different sized tube than it was designed for you either have to reprogram the MAF or the ECU to calculate the flow correctly.

Don't waste your money buying the MAF and sticking it in another vendors intake or your factory intake. It will never show a performance increase and might make things much worse.

Yes, you will 100% need a tune if you remove the restrictor no matter that MAF you use.

Just to add to this.

Every MAF is calibrated towards whatever it is going in by a tune. The ECU has no idea your changing anything. It doesn't work like the band bands which can see the affects of anything changing.

Buy the PMAS and see the results.

That's kinda what I was thinking. If my stock sized tubing only allows so much flow what good would a sensor do? Not to mention it cost $295 for just the sensor....as in without a tube or complete CAI.

This is getting insane. The MAF vendor claims 10 whp on a stock tube and intake. It seems all snake oil. Looks like either buying PMAS or nothing.

^Yea I'm pretty confused on that too. Somebody is not telling the truth or is just wrong here. What I'm hearing from the vendors here is that AM & Granatelli are false advertising a useless sensor

Funny thing is everyone on here(myself included) seems to get hot and heavy whenever a new intake comes out, only to have another one come out a week or two later that uses a different pitch...and on and on

Are you stock or tuned? Let us know the outcome once installed. Butt dyno is fine with me as CAI's can be manipulated easily with a cars hood up and fans blowing into them.

Not to suggest the PMAS intake isn't impressive, but so far all we have is data provided by the manufacturer. Manufacturers always skew their results to maximize sales--every manufacturer on this site does it, some doing it more than others. I'd chill until more people come forward with independently verified data to support PMAS' claim that the unit provides "20hp and 15trq". Just a suggestion, I wouldn't base my decision just on what a manufacturer says--I'd wait for people to provide some real world results and data before you buy. My $.02

LOL this thing (PMAS) has been out for a year.

To comment on the stand alone replacement MAF making power it would only do that if they manipulated the curve to show the ECM a slightly different signal (not enough to change driveability) so it looks at a different table possibly giving it more timing/fuel. Once the STT/LTT take over it isnt looking at the MAF anyway.

What's difficult for me to understand is that PMAS said in their thread that the stock tune already could handle giving the car more fuel/timing but without the calibrated MAF it wouldn't due to the reading....However with their CAI/calibrated MAF/it would allow the car to read and increase fuel/timing/power....Now someones saying you can't just use a calibrated MAF without their CAI, but someone else who sells the same CAI/ MAF also sells just the MAF

Actual air flowing into engine. The MAF sensor measures it, it does not create extra air. If you let more air into the engine with less pressure drop the tables exist to use it. Plugging in asensor will be reading the same air volume as the old sensor.
