Hey so are you guys saying 85 mm throttle body is a no go? I was going to get the bbk one from AM. So there is no gain in HP at all?

Seems like the only one with ANY gain is the GT350 one (~10whp at the top end, I believe. Some people see no gain).

Very minimal gains but it complicates tuning. Seems to be a lot more trouble than it's worth

Spend your money on other mods that will yield more results than a TB will. Stock TB flows plenty for NA sets up, only time to upgrade it is of CJ/gt350/SC cars...

Take that $500 and buy you some Steeda fixed pro actions ( awesome sale) and some springs.

Has anyone polished the entry to the throttle body or would that be a waste of time

Better off porting your stock tb or purchasing another stock tb send it in to be ported and sell off your old one or keep it for parts. Gains are minimal unless you have multiple supporting bolt ons, such as manifold fuel injectors, and headers, gains have been seen up to 20hp and tq in the curve but 3-10 hp at the top end. The less the mods the lower the top end is going to net. It's cheaper and much more reliable to Port a stock tb then purchace a gt350 tb or another aftermarket tb. GT manifold inlet is less then 83mm, boss is 83.5mm, gt350 is a little less over 90mm. 85mm is fine for N/A bolt on cars but stock has been on 1000+ hp cars with no issues, better off getting other mods first.

Not sure how that would net any gains? The throttle plate is the same you would just be enlarging the openeing but I don't see how that would gain anything. Maybe I'm not thinking clearly

STOCK TB is 78mm at the plate, can be ported to 82.06mm on the sides and easily 84-85mm from top to bottom. Front can be ported a little over 86mm. You would need a new TB plate after porting, shaft can be grinded down or one side removed. Overall it adds a good amount of throttle response. Plus when the tps goes out you just purchase another stock one and replace the broken part in the ported one.
