What was the most pain in the ass part? Or you actually upgraded from the 4-pot to the 6-pots?

my car was already a PP with the brembos.

the hardest part is the rear calipers, getting them apart and putting them together. it requires a few extra tools and some creativity. the rear arm is press fit and splined so you need a puller. i used a pulley puller. then on the inside there is a c clip retainer that needs to be removed but it has a compressed spring behind it so you need to remove it carefully and when putting it together you need to be able to compress the spring so you can get the c clip back in. also the spring on the back side of the caliper is a pain in the ass to get back in place.
you will also need a second person or a vac bleeder to bleed the brakes, the e brake cable is a bitch but once you figure it out pretty simple.

you also need to be really careful when removing the pistons not to tear a seal. you can't buy the rear seals separate of the caliper. the fonts you can buy a rebuild kit but at $72 for seals for just one caliper is a little pricy. just take your time and plan everything out before you actually do it and you will be fine.

here are a couple pics of the disassembly. the e brake mech NEEDS to come off. there is a small rubber o ring inside that would melt if you do not.

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago by a local shop. They charged me $250 to paint them on all 4 corners. I was very happy with the outcome. Just the right amount of color imo

i bought an extra set from the dealer and had them powder coated separate so there would be less down time with the car... hope to get them mounted some time next week when i have a day off...

yes i will be selling the extra set i take off the car, so if anyone is interested feel free to pm me. ill be making a f/s thread.

 They look very nice.

I'm looking to have mine coated in red but I asked my dealer how much and they told me 2 days without the car and $600.00:eyebulge: This point in time maybe a little steep for me.

I will not be coating them myself, which is probably cheaper, but I'm curious how much they charged to powder coat?

the coating is a little under $200 but there is a lot of time/labor into getting them done.

Did whoever coated your brakes remove the pistons and seals from the caliper before coating or not? Just wondering.

yes, i did the work myself. i removed all the seals and pistons in both the front and rears and the coating shop covered all the holes to keep debris out.

i took a 2x6 piece of wood and stuck in between all 6 pistons to act as a stop, then took my air compressor with the blow gun attachment (make sure you turn the pressure down or you will blow the seals and split them) i used about 20-30psi... then just blow the air into the hole where the brake line normally goes and the pistons will hit the wood.. remove wood and then just wiggle the pistons out by hand. use a couple small flat blade screwdrivers to remove the seals once the pistons are pulled, after they are out remove the internal seals with a pick tool.

its very easy to do, the rears are what suck.

when you go to put them together make sure you rinse the calipers out with warm water then let them sit overnight to dry.. just need to make sure you get ALL of the sand out. when you put them together just buy some caliper grease to use on the seals, the pistons will just push in by hand with moderate pressure. when i installed the pistons i installed the seal on the piston first then pushed the piston into place then pushed the seal into place.

it probably sounds worse then it is, sorry i didn't take any pictures or videos. its honestly pretty straight forward once you get started.

Got it figured out.

the only "tricky" part of the project is going to be getting the C-Clip back in. Oh, and removing the rubber seal because on the fronts, they just easily pull out vs. the rear where you use a small screwdriver to pry them out. You don't have to do that on the fronts.

Uh, removing the emergency brake cable took me some thinking as well. LOL. I just used a socket and wrench on the back bolt and engaged the emergency brake by turning the wrench, BUT the trick is to do it WITHOUT brake pads in the calipers so it will collapse the cable. It will not move with the brake pads bottoming out on the rotor....LOL

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE shout out to stealthfrc for answering my PM's!
