The PZeros are great on a road course, I think. Certainly not up to snuff with their price though. They're a tire, on this platform, I'd pay about BF Goodrich Comp-2 money for. The PZero was really designed for wider-tire-laden super car sorts of applications. They do well there, apparently - folks like them and they test well on those cars. I'm glad Ford is putting the MP4s on the new S550s. It will improve the initial feel of the car a lot. I wish, though, that they would contract with Firestone for the Indy 500 tire and use the accumulated cost savings to maybe make some more driveline refinements. I bet the 2018+ MT82 cars still clunk and clank... :(

Don't mean to derail this thread but I wonder how the MPSS stack up against the Nitto NT555 G2 which are the ones I have now. I have looked and I couldn't find any useful information about these two being compared.

MPSS is better. NT555 G2 is a nice tire. I'd rather have BFG Comp-2's at that price point.

MPSS compounds will continue to crosslink(firm up) with heat cycling. If you take them straight to the track green (fresh), you may chunk them at the shoulder/chaffer interface.
If you work them up to temp several times with gradually increasing load and full cooling cycles, you will have stronger/stiffer compound.
Basically, the compound gets stiffer/stronger with higher temp heat cycles.
It may require more heat to get up to maximum grip towards end of life, but the grip level and strength once up to temp is still very good. This seems to be the sweet spot after the 2nd or 3rd track weekend when they are slightly firmer once up to temp with some minor cold fall off. No chunking then and respond well into saturation.
Eventually, the amount of heat needed to get the compound "working" may be noticeably higher or difficult to achieve in the same time due to the heat cycled compound getting harder/stiffer each cycle slightly ; so much to where the cold tire is lower grip to where its difficult to even work heat into it.
MPSS has an excellent balance to these tradeoffs.
I would discourage burnouts and drifting them as this may artificially age the surface compound and decrease your short term cold grip.

Anybody tested the Firestone Indy 500 tires yet? I like them a lot, for the price point, the best bang for the buck.

tires are the biggest performance upgrade you can do on a car
I think that is a tie with Driver Mod.

Back to the matter at hand though; I went to an Auto-X yesterday on a busted foot :frusty: :headbonk: and I ended up placing 3rd overall and
I was the 2nd Fastest mustang there. The 1st place guys had RE-71R's(better tire).

The point here is that the MPSS is a great street tire that handles (no pun) these types of events very well. Shortly after I had mine installed
I went to Thunder Hill and did a good job of eating up most of the field.

I also did a TON of research before I bought:

Enjoy your new tires!
