Also to help @Gregs24 out with our constitution and what it takes to amend an amendment:

Article V of the Constitution provides two ways to propose amendments to the document. Amendments may be proposed either by the Congress, through a joint resolution passed by a two-thirds vote, or by a convention called by Congress in response to applications from two-thirds of the state legislatures.

That’s just to propose an amendment to the constitution.

The amendment must then be ratified by three-fourths of the State legislatures, or three-fourths of conventions called in each Statefor ratification.

Stay in your lane and worry about your country and your laws. You know nothing about our laws and our process of changing our constitution.

So we can talk about laws in other countries but people can’t provide news links and thoughts on ours? Want to know about a law? Ask a criminal or a lawyer. Ha ha ha.

You already know 80+ percent of Americans don’t know anything of our laws, let alone amendments.

Far as guns that thread was locked a while ago… I won’t comment.

That’s the reason why we have so much ignorance in our country amongst other things. One of the most important things to truly know and invest yourself in. I particularly don’t care about other countries, their laws or their culture. I wish the US as an entity would also stop trying to impose our way of life and freedoms elsewhere also. Our freedoms work for us and only us.

You may find you would learn something if you did, never mind find a better way of doing things :giggle:

Ironically it is isolationism that is hurting the US more than anything at the moment

I am well aware of the above which is exactly why I said it is unlikely. Not sure why you feel the need to tell me not to worry about your laws - why is that a problem for you? All just a bit sensitive ehh?

Meanwhile - on topic, China sold over 0.5 million EV's in one month on their domestic market in April. No wonder legacy car makers are desperate to develop their EV's. The pace of change is massive.

Debunking another misleading green energy study (msn.com)
ā€œThere are three basic problems with the study.ā€

ā€œFirst, it so broadly defines ā€œsubsidyā€ as to be completely meaningless. In fact, the study states that only 8% of its reported costs reflect actual, direct subsidies. The rest predominantly comes from the amorphous ā€œundercharging for environmental costsā€ that supposedly occur from the extraction, refining, transportation, and use of fossil fuels. Such environmental costs include ā€œunderpricing for local air pollutionā€ (42%) and ā€œglobal warming costsā€ (29%). What’s left goes to the equally tenuous congestion and road accidents costs (15%) and forgone tax revenues (6%).ā€

ā€œSecond, the study presents its overall findings in global terms when the numbers only have meaning at local and regional levels. For example, the largest contributor to its bottom-line number is local air pollution. Putting aside the fact, as my colleague Travis Fisher points out, how easy it is to cook the books and exaggerate the assumed costs of things like small particulate matter in the air, the other problem is that regional variances for local air pollution are so immense that any broad policy conclusion, such as ā€œtighten local air pollution standards,ā€ would be irrelevant.ā€

ā€œAnd third, the study provides no accounting for the massive contribution to human flourishing that has resulted directly from the use of hydrocarbons. This is perhaps the biggest problem with this study specifically, and the modern environmental movement more broadly.ā€

ā€œOh, and by the way, the environment—despite what the authors suggest—is getting better and better all the time, even with those pesky local pollutants that they pin 42% of their costs on. While some regions of the world do have work to do, the United States shows that gas, oil, and coal use and economic growth do not dictate poor air and environmental quality; and, indeed, Americans have enjoyed ever increasingly clean air for decades.ā€

Hello; I pulled just a few comments from the article. More detail is left and worth a read

A fifth of Americans is 7 million people is it?
Did the math wron you’re right. 72 million. Still a minuscule amount comparatively and still the norm for anti second amendment stance. Again it’s not going anywhere.

Keeping fossil fuels is bad, BUT, BUt But, getting rid of them is bad too.

It's either an episode of the twilight zone or a Dr Seuss book.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/climate-paradox-emission-cuts-could-100000907.html
Hello; from the link. More can be said about this.

"A draft study led by Columbia University climate scientist James Hansen suggests that the recent rise in temperatures doesn’t come from greenhouse gases at all, but from the reduction in sulfate aerosols since the early-2000s."

"Hansen has an esteemed pedigree on this issue. He is the former NASA scientist who in 1988 warned Congress about the dangers posed by burning fossil fuels, which he explained were causing climate change by releasing carbon dioxide."

"But by 2021, Hansen was troubled: the Earth was warming too fast."

"In part, that was because the U.S. and world governments had largely ignored his calls to cut carbon emissions. Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels increased by more than 40 percent between 1990 and 2021."

"But even that surge in carbon dioxide levels wasn’t enough to account for how fast the climate was warming, Hansen and fellow scientist Makiko Sato warned in 2021."

ā€œSomething is going on in addition to greenhouse warming,ā€ they wrote.

"Their culprit: The fact that the immediate aerosols released by fossil fuels temporarily hid their worse impacts, meaning that cutting them would make things worse before it made them better."

72 million people is not miniscule. A minority - yes, miniscule - no

Many more want gun reforms which seem far more likely
