Guys I have fixed my Gibson exhaust drone. I have drove for an hour or so in pure bliss. Don't get me wrong, the Gibson sound before this mod was great. I just could not stand to ride it around town or 55 to 65 on the highway. My wife complained, friends would say it sounds great outside but they do not think such a engineered sports car should have exhaust with that much drone... I agreed 110% with everyone... I also wanted to not fool with selling the Gibson and buying another that I may or may not hate... The only answer that came to mind was try and fix it!! Well guys, I did just that... Overall, the exhaust simply sounds better from idle to wide open throttle..

THE SOLUTION

They are Dynomax Race Bullets 3" inlet and outlet 4" body and they are 12" long

Here is a video of how it sounds in the car now

Mine did not. I had 1200 miles on my car. It is a auto with 3.55 gears.

This is probably the answer to all the exhaust systems with lots of drone. How much did this cost? At least it'll help most of them. The drone is the reason why I didn't get the Gibson setup. I went with MBRP and no drone and very happy. But this is great for when I go for a louder exhaust setup and it has drone. My car now is my DD but when it's just a nice day driver I'll put a louder system on

I used the Dynomax Race Bullets, part number 24222. From Summit they are 44.97 each. Unfortunately this adds another 100.00 to the cost

Mine don't drone bad at all, and with a manual what little drone I have is controlled with shifting.

I can see it being more of a problem on an auto but I love mine

I did the exact same thing to my MBRP, not because of drone but because when I added Catless headers the sound was way too loud. Perfect now. Nice job

I think it sounds better from outside without the resonator/muffler/whatever that is. But if the drone bothers someone, here's a solution. I'm used to loud exhausts...doesn't bother me at all. I'm rarely at the drone speed in 6th.

That's exactly what I was going to do. My drone went away after a few miles but it seems it has return even worse after e85 conversation.

I, too plan on doing some catless headers down the line and figured this mod will help.

Do these just slip on??
That's the only bad part. You do have to cut the exhaust piping some.

Do you mean, E85 CONVERSION? Not sure how it got worst with just a different fuel type?

Hey Supa,

To Francisco's question about them slipping on. Assuming that you have to cut the exhaust to install them, did you have them welded in? I don't see any welds or clamps in your picture. Seems like they should be welded to seal them but I'm no exhaust expert.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe, i have not done this yet. So, i have no idea, but i would imagine that there are some sort of welds in there. Hopefully the OP can chime in here, soon.

EDIT- after looking at it AGAIN, i think he just used some sort of clamp on each piece?
