My i-phone connects fine with the car system (My Ford) and music is interrupted when I get a phone call. However when I get a text message nothing comes through
I did upgrade the software some months back as per the Ford instructions.
The system does not alert me that there is a text, it gives no audio reading of the text and there is no screen display of he text

Pretty sure if you're using iMessage on your iPhone it won't come thru. When I switched temporarily to a Sony phone, they came thru no problem. No such luck with iPhone.

Mine works perfectly with iMessage in fact that's all I use as all my people are iPhones. You have to go into your phone and adjust the settings there to allow it to go through.

And how do I do that? What setting must I change in the phone?
Thanks

I'd like to know as well, I allowed notification for texts in iPhone, but all I get is a notice of a text message. To see/hear it, I need to use Siri. I have Sync on basic radio unit, BTW.

yup, in my case that is already turned on, but I just get notification of new email and from whom; no option to read email.

Again, I have base unit, so maybe not for me.

you have to have all the previews/notifications turned on. Where if you get a text, and your phone is locked, the text still shows up on the lock screen for all the world to read if you are not there.

NO THANKS.

If I get a text while driving, I just press the voice button ans axe Siri to "read that text" and she does.

Got it to work. Perfect. Is this because of that software upgrade? It does not dip lay the text on the car screen, maybe it is not supposed to do that. That point about the locked screen, if I unlock the screen with my pin will I not get the audio notofication?

Page 303 of the Owner's Manual:

Text Messaging
Note: This is a phone-dependent feature.
SYNC allows you to receive, send, download and delete text messages. The system can also read incoming text messages to you so that you do not have to take your eyes off the road.

Receiving a Text Message
Note: This is a phone-dependent feature. Your phone must support downloading text messages using Bluetooth to receive incoming text messages.
Note: This is a speed-dependent feature and is only available when your vehicle is traveling at 3 mph (5 km/h) or less.
When a new message arrives, an audible tone sounds and the audio display indicates you have a new message.
You have these options:
• Press the voice button and say, "Read message".
• Select the listen option to have the system read the message to you.
• Select the ignore option, or do nothing, and the message goes into your text message inbox.

Select the view option to open the text message. Once selected, you have the ability to have the message read to you, to view other messages, or to select the More option.

I went into "Messaging" on the car; now I can also display the text on the car screen (or listen through the car stereo). Life is so sweet
