I have a 17 and just did this. It does feel a bit peppier. It really needs a 3.73 or 3.91.

On the freeway it used to like to run 85 that has slowed to 75. Should help keep me from getting citations.

Yeah but he has a 10R80. So.
3.15 great for boosted, 3.55 for NA. Wouldn't go to a lower gear than that.

As heavy as these are I think I'd still want a 3.73 even with the 10R

Doubt it. But I'm not an automatic guy (in the sense of 5 or more forward gears).

That would would terrible unless trying to rock climb or tow 13,000lbs with the car.

My buds car with him in it, is 4165lbs. He swapped from 3.55 to 3.15, and the car is quicker 60-130 (minimal, but repeatable) and drives way smoother around town with less useless gearshifts from 1-7 below 40mph.

Sure, a 4000lb road course N/A setup on sticky tires would benefit with 3.55/10R80 on short/medium length tracks.

The 10 R may be different. With 3.55's and 6R I can still run 145 in 4th and if it is a real long straight I can pull 5th. It should trap 7800 in 3rd in the 1/4 mile. 3.73 or 3.91 would hurt 1/4 mile but would drive better in town and back roads. I would tune the shift points to suit the gear.

Still the car feels like a pig.

3.55 and the 6R is a fun decent all around setup for sure. When over 3850+lbs. Under that, and the 3.15 is ideal.

Personally, if you’re going to spend the time and money, I would at least go to a 3:73. They will make a huge difference in the way the car takes off and not nearly as much of a change in the gas mileage as you’re probably thinking.
