Saw the news a few nights ago. They got my attention when they said Florida doubled the prices at their stations. Story was actually about a handful of stations near the airports. The prices were double and even higher to gouge the rental car drivers who have to return the car with a full tank. One guy they interviewed said it cost him more to fill it up that last time than it did renting the car.

LOL, we just returned our rental fusion in orlando and we filled up near the airport. it was the same price as we saw in other places though, 2.50ish per gallon at WaWa.

12 bucks a day for a 7 day rental, i can see how his last fillup could be more than the rental itself, LOL.

Not sure where the story took place, it was on NBC. The guy was referring to the total cost of his rental car while he was there being less than his last fill up. I don't remember the cost of his last fill up, but it was well over $80. Reporters said there was nothing that could be done about the gouging, stations can charge whatever they want. The only time they are not allowed to gouge is during a severe storm/gas shortage situation.

Trade it in for a I-4 since you bought the wrong car for your budget. I'm still enjoying the lower gas prices my self.

Just like any other car it depends how much you drive. I only have 2400 miles on mine since 2 days before Xmas when I got it, so 400 miles a month average. Some people put 2000-2500 on a month.

I am sure the monthly people may think twice putting 2 tanks in a week even for 87 at $75 or so now for those 2 tanks; double that and it gets costly for a weekly gas budget. $150/week for gas is steep.

I would be fine. Im lucky if I put $100 in monthly.

A lot of people made this mistake last time gas prices shot up and averaged $4 a 12-18 months ago. The amount of depreciation you lose trading the car in is more than the higher price gas costs for the most part. It's a bad move to dump a car for gas prices overall.

Double the prices you guys have in the US and you're only at HALF the price we already pay in Europe.
Quite true... along with quite a few other products, and the same could almost be said about our income as well.

Absolutely nothing. I remember filling gas at $4.65 a gallon for 87. Had my Taurus at the time and i was paying about $75-$80 bucks for a fill up. Gas will probably go back up to that point again and it'll probably be just like any other day.

I dont have a whole lot of brand loyalty. Started with a Prelude, Tbird, Probe, Mustang, another Prelude, Evo, GTO, Mustang, and another Mustang. Guess I do have some LOL. I've had three F250s now. Wife had some other cars in between (Ranger, Celica, cant remember what else).

I would have my car repo'd, I am not allowed to get good MPG's, and my insurance is super high to where I can not afford it.

This Mustang was supposed to be a 'vette or ATS-V but alas, I'm still a rich man trapped in a poor mans body.
