I'm new to the forum and looking to purchase my first mustang. As I'm finalizing my GT order I searched around to see if the GT would incur a gas guzzler tax. Does anyone know?

The current one does not have the gas guzzler tax and the next one wont be worse fuel economy wise, so there will be no gas guzzler tax. If there was, it would have been announced somewhere on this forum and there would be a 20 page long thread about how it sucks lol.

The GT500 doesn't even have the gas guzzler tax.

When you finally drive one, you can bet your ass that you'll be guzzlin' the gas!

No guzzler tax expected almost 0% chance. Ford was proud the gt500 didn't have one no way they would take 2 steps back

CAFE standards jump quite a bit in 2015 and 2016, which I'm sure Ford is planning for... In fact, I bet part of the reason the new Mustang has a larger footprint is to help with meeting CAFE. Footprint is used to calculate a car's mileage target. The larger the footprint ( to a certain point), the less mpg you have to achieve.
