Since I have a couple weeks to kill before delivery, and I'm OCD'ing out on my custom Mustang, I wanted to ask you guys how you handled PDIs at your dealership.

Also, a lot of you bought from Galpin, so I figured this would be the place/time to ask.

Did you let them do their full PDI including wash/wax/whatever?
Any issues with paint/panel/alignment/etc?
Did you let them install Lojack or other anti-theft devices?

My main concern is making sure the paint isn't messed up. Galpin seems to have a good rep for customer experience so I'm debating having it detailed elsewhere or letting them do their thing.

Im from Norcal but earlier today I went to a local dealership...half of the 16s on that lot still had the misaligned rear windshield. Because I now know what to look for that was one of the things I look at, the misaligned rear trunk/panels wasn't too bad. The hood/fenders/doors werent as bad as my 15. A brand new 16 with 19 miles on it had the black accent package in their back lot...front horse had a broken tail, and had a dent in the driver's door, near the bottom right corner of the passenger light on the bumper had a 3 inch scratch...and this car was brand new lol. When I get an ETA on mine, I am strictly telling my dealer to leave everything alone. Leave the wrapping tape on the car, leave the plate bracket in the trunk, do not touch it. Even though I have waited so freakin long for this car to be built and to arrive, if anything is slightly wrong...I am taking my deposit and bouncing. I have no problems and I will tell my sales rep that as well. LOL.

Sixth, I ordered my Boss 302 through Chino Hills Ford and the best thing I did during the ordering process was to have the sales manager agree not to touch the car when it arrived into the dealership. I had them call me and I came down and inspected the car just as it was when it came off the truck, plastic and all. I didn't trust them to wash and wax it even though it was a complementary service, I saw several brand new vehicles on the lot with swirl marks in the clear coat from being improperly washed and waxed. Unfortunately the least paid people at the dealership are the ones washing the cars.

I ordered from Galpin and didn't have them touch it once it was delivered. I picked up up exactly how it was dropped off from the truck. They run their cars through an automated wash with brushes then wash and dry it with the same towels and buckets they was every single car on the delivery truck with. If you don't want any swirl marks on a brand new car then I would just pick it up and taker her home and give her a good hand wash. Take a close look at some of their new cars on the lot and that will give you an idea of what yours would look like. Its a personal choice. Congratulations on your new car!!!
