Fuel Odor

Anyone notice a fuel odor in the engine compartment? I've even noticed a few times in the car while idling in traffic (although that could also be other vehicles). I'm curious as to where this odor is coming from, no CEL or any odd behavior, just a mild but noticeable fuel odor. I'm wondering if this is from the BOV as you now have an open path to the intake...I noticed this before I performed any of the mods, seems a bit stronger now since installing the UPR catch can (could be fumes venting from the catch can if the o-rings aren't tight enough seal).

It's the catch can. I noticed this while I first had mine installed too. Remove the three top fittings, put a thin layer of teflon tape on the threads, and reinstall them snuggly. The smell will go away.

I usually put a light layer on the drain plug too because it had the tiniest drip to it over time. The teflon tape seems to have cured that as well.

Thanks, that's what I thought, I just went out and took a wiff of he cup I drained from the catch can, same odor. I had the catch can and plugs in after just 1500 miles so it was hard to recall anything before that.

I noticed how much play the fittings had on the UPR and that came to mind as the most likely culprit, didn't think of using tefflon tape on the fittings though (only the drain plug threads), good call.
