Hey guys. I just installed my Fore L2 System on my 2019 GT and I have a leak right on the top of the tank where the lock ring goes. It’s not one of the fittings, it’s where the actual ring locks down. When I prime the pump I can hear a bubbling sound of the fuel coming out. Also during hard acceleration or sharp turns where the fuel sloshes around it leaks as well. The lock ring is on all the way, is there a seal there that may need replacing?

Did you take the o-ring seal from the factory pump and move it over to this hat? Are you sure it isn't bunched up if you did?

See green o-ring on the left assembly. You need that from your factory setup.

Just double checked, the o-ring is in there. It looks fine, wasn’t bunched up or anything. I can’t see what else it would be if the o-ring is good though. The hat isn’t bent or anything so I’m not too sure.

Yeah, I was hoping it wasn’t there and it’d be an easy fix. I put it all back together and there’s still a slow leak coming out right there.

May have ZERO things to do with this, but trying to brainstorm with you. Are the bulkhead fittings tight through the hat lid?

Hmm not sure, I didn’t check those when I had it off. I’ll pull it tomorrow and check. I emailed Fore to see if they have any ideas too.

I haven’t checked these yet on mine, but for anyone that has this same issue in the future, here’s the response from Fore:

Leaks at the top of the pump module are one of these reasons:
1. It is one of the old design wire seals (the current design is about four years old and has zero failures)
2. installer bent the tabs on the tank and/or lock ring in the hopes of making the lock ring seating easier. (in fact, this does not compress the big o-ring adequately for sealing and it will leak)
3. 90 degree fittings installed incorrectly so that the o-rings are engaged in the threads.
4. hose ends/fittings leaking
5. top of fuel tank penetrated by screwdriver (if it slips when trying to remove lock ring with screwdriver and hammer...the tank is very thin at the top)“

Thanks for sharing. You are going to go down the list and check them off I suppose?

Yeah, for sure. I definitely had the screwdriver slip off the ring a few times so that may be my culprit.

It’s like Fore was sitting there watching me beat this thing with a screwdriver and hammer!

Time for some fuel-resistant epoxy?

Haha yeah, that’s the plan. Fore recommended replacing the whole tank, but I’m definitely gonna give one of these plastic epoxies a shot before I do that.

$35 for the proper tool seems like a bargain now eh? Glad you found your problem. I would epoxy that shit all day and send it.
